So...North Korea gets it's own ICBMs...

Recommended Posts

I'm sorry, I don't buy that story at all. The journalists that are being held by North Korea and being charged as spys snuck into North Korea from China. That took 3 weeks of failed attempts as crossing the border.

Just do a google search and see if you can find one other person that claims to have crossed the DMZ into North Korea and back again.

BTW, those tunnels I mentioned that you siezed on... Where shut down before they were finished and are now one of the things you see when going on a tour of the DMZ.

I believe SG

My bro does the missionary thing (not a sex position) and he has been to some pretty far out places

I know its difficult but I do think it could happen.

sometimes they let missionaries in cause they promise to help build houses and whatnot...help people farm stuff, like that

then they try to 'save' people

Meh, whether or not Scary Guy's uncle actually made it in to North Korea through the South, the fact remains that North Koreans are getting royally fucked by their government. Seriously, Kim Jong Il is James Bond villain evil. It is beyond me as to why China, Japan, the South, and America simply haven't made a secret deal to have the man killed and a puppet installed.

Of course... the scarier proposition is that Kim IS the puppet...

China hates Japan

China hates South Korea

Japan hates China

Japan hates South Korea

South Korea hates China

South Korea hates Japan

the list keeps going like that but...there will never be any "peace" talks...sure there are "talks" now but they are a waste of everyones damn time...Japan has changed alot but I remember them stalling with peace talks and then...WHAM! Don't worry about puppet leaders...they are everywhere. Even with all of are awesomeness it would be very difficult to have the man killed anyways...it is a simple chain reaction that we could not handle because of all the variables. People will give the US shit for not taking care of the situation...and they will give us shit for trying to take care of it...and I won't even list all the other things that people will blame on the US.

We should just point all out guns out past our borders, finish building that big fence, and take care of ourselves until something really bad happens...I could really care less who suffers in what country anymore...

China hates Japan

...Truth

China hates South Korea

...Probably Truth

Japan hates China

...Not so much 'hate' as 'look down on like a bug'...

Japan hates South Korea

...Totally not Truth

South Korea hates China

...Don't know

South Korea hates Japan

...SO VERY MUCH Truth - except they do give them lots of money in tourism...

I just base those off of what my friends from South Korea and Japan tell me. South Korea and Japan do kinda get along...I just put "hate" down for speed and time, but they are really not at the level where they could have nice peace talks. They do love playing each other in baseball though!

Hey, there's some color!!

But actually..it was really cloudy and rainy that day...so it does look pretty bleak... -.-;;;

Wow, who knew that with only a quarter in your pocket you could go here and see 700,000 troops, 8,000 artillery pieces, and almost 2,000 tanks! What a view! If only those viewers could send my laser pointer all the way over to that man in the funny hat over there...

No, they don't. It's illegal to be Christian in NK. What few Christians that there are in NK only meet in small (no more than 4) groups to avoid arrest and detention. (Detention is a fancy word for slow agonizing death in NK)

Actually from there you can't see that much. Just a village, a "fancy" village North Korea built in the space you can see as a tourist specifically to show off how life's not so bad there. They have vehicles and food. Nice place to live, really.

You can't see much military from here at all, except the dozens of South Korean soldiers that watch over you while you're there to make sure you don't take a photo from any closer than I was standing when I took this one. There's a yellow line painted across the floor. The reason is that closer to the wall you could aim the camera down and take photos of South Korea's defenses, and they don't want spies.

Well, ya.. Japan tried to exterminate China during WWII. They killed over 20 million Chinese civilians. The Chinese claim it was closer to 30million.

I don't know if I'd say Japan tried to exterminate China so much as swallow it up and make it part it itself...a subservient, inferior part...and they certainly killed a lot of people.... but still not sure I'd say 'exterminate'.

Like I said... China hates Japan? Truth. Same as South Korea hates Japan. Both with pretty good reason.

Forgive me for being dense, but Germany and France fucked with each other for centuries, and Germany played Japan's role in Europe during World War II. Is there a particular reason why Europeans learned to get along, but Asians are still holding grudges?

Is there a Reason why ASEAN has not gone on to include Japan, China, and the South besides simmering hatreds from sixty years ago?

Because before there was a France and Germany to dislike each other... Japan and China had been killing each other for thousands of years. The river of hatred runs far deeper than a mere 60 years of erosion can account for.

Yeah, I was kinda making a joke. But if they increase their defenses any more there is no way to hide all of that. My friend is heading out next month to spend a time with the Marine force South Korea. I don't know what their normal training list looks like, but he has been hammered with quick, offshore training and lots of HALO jumps. But thats probably normal and all he will do there is sleep and talk with our friends in the South Korean Navy.

Europeans have fought before...alot...for a long time. However, the way they fight is different. They took breaks for holidays. Also, when the war was over, it was over, and in Asia the conflicts seem to go on longer that they "official" documents say and the wounds are often deeper...and countries there seem to salt the wounds on a regular basis.

I'm living not too far from the border between North and South Korea and I am not too concerned.

What exactly is your point?

I mean... If I were to fall from a 1000ft building... whether or not I was concerned with the outcome of the fall has absolutely no bearing on what is going to happen when I land.

This isn't so dire, nor is it as certain as falling off a building. It's just a satellite. Your comparison is a little silly.

It's not "just a satellite" even if it is just a satellite. You are right though, falling off a building was a silly comparison.. I should have used a deranged raving maniac with a nuke as my comparison.

    • ~~~~~ Yeah, thank you for the check-in.   Happy to say it was all a misunderstanding.  But she pulled out her "ghetto" and that's when things went South.  I get very professional minded when I enter into situations like that because when someone starts bring the court into conversations, I'm in court 2 times a year, every year, so don't go there with me because I will get legal all over you.   She did try to change what she thought she might have said, but I had to call her on it because it's all in written text.  Then she apologized and we were able to have a decent conversation.   I know I joke about me talking so much that people don't hear what I say except for keywords that they are looking for, but that is exactly what happened here.  She heard "payment", "money" and "help out".  It was crazy.  I literally had to have the entire conversation all over again, but I definitely condensed it to only address those 3 words.   Things are back on track, but I emphasized that if she every needed clarification for anything, please say something first instead of jumping to conclusions, then questioning that conclusion, then answering that conclusion, then getting upset at the answer and taking it out on someone who doesn't have a clue what the San Juan Hill just happened.   But this is exactly the reason I do everything with a paper trail.

    • I'm glad  that yesterday's day at work is long gone now. There was a very strong unusual energy that I felt, and couldn't get done with the day fast enough. It wasn't  the job at all. I just felt like I really needed to keep my mouth shut, to keep me from getting in situation(s) that probably wouldn't have ended well for me.
    • You can trust anyone you want.  The only question is whether or not they're deserving of that trust. No risk = no reward.  As such you have to let yourself be vulnerable sometimes and realize that all people will let you down eventually whether it's intentional or not.  The frequency that it happens is what's important.
    • Sorry, I don't check this as often as I should. Anyway document everything (although it sounds like @Trene4000already has been from her post.) It's okay to cry and break down, but not in front of them.  Never give them the satisfaction of seeing you crack.  If anything I'd go out of my way to piss them off, but I don't like being that guy either (and as such I'm not very good at it, except sometimes when I'm not intending to be.) I try to only help those whom deserve it, but that's often hard to judge.  Seeing how someone treats other people is a pretty good indicator of whether or not they're worthy.  Sociopathic narcissistic asshats are very much not worthy. I hope things are going well for you guys.
