Helping spread the word on this fantastic show...

Fixmer/McCarthy

The duo comprising of influential French Techno producer Terence Fixmer and Douglas McCarthy, the legendary voice of Nitzer Ebb. Since releasing their first album, "Between The Devil", in 2004 Fixmer/McCarthy have taken their world dominating electronic beats and punishing vocals around the globe and have emerged to formulate a new direction for their sound. Emanating from Terence's long standing obsession with EBM and Techno, the latest album "Into The Night" takes us on a journey into the heart of a new electronic darkness, with velvet melodies over hypnotic pulsating bass lines, and even a ballad to tug on your clubbed out heart strings! After the revolutionary storm of their first album, Fixmer/McCarthy now delivers us the unexpected, a broodingly reflective sensual new album that has the sound of the dancefloor and the soundtrack for the journey home!

First ever live performance in Detroit!!! And yes they do play quite a few classic Nitzer Ebb songs in the set!!!

Appearing with Dethlab

Dethlab

Veteran multidisciplinary artists Bethany Shorb and Michael Doyle have been working together as Dethlab since 2005. As event producers, they have brought international live acts such as Vitalic, Motor, Lowfish and Solvent to Detroit. As DJs, they have performed by invitation at the Guggenheim Museum in New York City, the 2006 Movement Festival at Detroit's Hart Plaza and have opened for acts including T. Raumschmiere, Chemlab, Ectomorph and Pas/Cal.

With the Dethlab project, Shorb and Doyle seek to define "the new black" - connecting the dots between trends in music, fashion, design and culture: mashing Ballardian reality with a romance for the glory days of postpunk and the cyberpunk future promised by Blade Runner. Like a modern day McLaren and Westwood, Doyle and Shorb are obsessive consumers, creators and curators of all things dark, innovative and beautiful... often with tongue firmly in cheek. In addition to DJing and event production, they are currently recording original music, have facilitated "outings" such as Alice In Wonderland themed tea parties and period costumed croquet socials in abandoned factories, and have used nearly as much fake blood as GWAR since the project's inception.

/bump! Tomorrow night! Who's going? Never been to this venue before, but being that it's at a coffeehouse, I'm sure everyone will be alert and awake. Will be fun to join in the chant with a grande skinny latte. ;-)

Will be attending for sure! See you there!!!

Well thanks for the compliment! I hope you have a good night regardless, and will probably see you tonite(?)! On a side note, we (Dethlab) are more of a deejay troupe than live band. Although we do get pretty heavily into re-edits, manipulations, and distortion pedals. :jamin

Lemme know what you think of the mixes!!

Excellent show. Thanks to the Dethlab crew for putting it all together and DJ'ing a fantastic set as well.

Fixmer/McCarthy played an impressive set. Notable tracks included "Love the Night", "Hate Me" "And then Finally", "Freefall" and more from both albums. THREE Nitzer Ebb tracks to boot ("Control I'm Here", "Murderous" and "Join in the Chant") each sounding a bit more extreme than the Ebb versions. Crowd was VERY energetic and packed into the perfectly sized Trowbridge. Sounds was crisp. Managed to fill my digital camera with photos and will post some to my flickr account.

This show reminded me why I got into this music in the first place - the fun, the energy, friends, aggressive beats... it just all wonderfully coalesced together last night.
