Pain Tribe was a no show. It was one of those nights where I wished I had brought my accordion or a bag of tricks since this was the second or third no-show of the headliner in the past three months. Oblivion rose to the occasion to fill the time with a small show around midnight.

There was a glass walker, a belly dancer and a very new fire performer that excelled in hand transfers. Of course, Oblivion did something almost Matrix on the film's tenth anniversary.

The Ritz is starting to get good again for sideshow acts and fetish scenes. As long as no fire performers set the place on fire...

I would like to say that I am proud of those I am lucky enough to perform with in Oblivion. Everyone stepped up and put on a show with what we had on hand. We are fortunate to have many talented and brave performers as well as people those that helped out with behind the scenes and props/equipment. Thank you everyone that turned a potential disaster into a triumph!

Big Lew took some great photos of the night. Some are candid, others are of the performances. Check it out!

Big Lew

personal note: I had a blast! The skit my partner and I put together in a matter of minutes was a lot of fun to do.

Of the fetish skits that I've seen recently, your skit is one of my favorites because you and your partner chose to present in a very fun and light manner something that could conceivably happen in a bedroom any day of the week without a major production. Assuming, of course, that you have unusual bedroom furniture.

That's what we were aiming for. I'm glad we weren't the only ones to think we pulled it off. :wink

I was disappointed that Pain Tribe was a no show but do know it was no fault of the venue. I had scheduled Pain Tribe to perform in July with other "Nomoon" people that where also going to perform with us at the Land of Nod Music and Arts Festival in Jackson. I will still see if I can get them in that week with DJ Proppa Bear.... a NOLA DJ. They will be at the Festival.

I was happy to see the folks stepping up to make the night a success despite the no show. Good Job!

We (CT) will however show up tonight.... no excuses, no drama.... as we always do so I hope you all show up as well.

Seriously, you guys would show up and rock it if you were on your death bed! I don't think there is anything you guys would let stop you from performing.

You guys rock! :jamin

Have a great show!

Ah thanks! We try - it's gonna be a good show..... the same set as we did at LUNA and people really seemed to like it. Of course.... we'll have the light show as well. You guys need to come out.

Oblivion was not planning on performing at the Ritz at all Thursday night until last week when Pain Tribe asked to see one of our scenes. So we threw in an extra rehearsal and made some modifications to have our "Temptation" scene ready. With Pain Tribe not coming, I didn't want to spoil the surprise of "Temptation" since we're premiering it next Thursday at The Ritz and performing it again next Saturday at The Works. But we couldn't have a dead night with no entertainment at all. So Oblivion had a cram session to see what props we had on hand, what performers were available, and who could do what. In less than 10 minutes we had 6 scenes for a full evening of entertainment. So, for a show we almost literally pulled out of our asses, I am very proud of a very professional job and of a higher caliber than some fully rehearsed shows I've seen from other troupes. Like Ice Queen said, we perform with some truly talented and awesome performers who continue to impress me each day.

Note to self: Keep whips and straight jacket in truck at all times, just in case.

Way to pull the bunny out of the hat on that one.

I also want to thank the crowd. People were leaving at the door when they heard Pain Tribe was a no show. For those who stayed anyway, you are what made the night worthwhile. With your applause, cheers, and appreciation, you turned our frustration into fun and enjoyment as we performed for you. Thank you for sticking around and I hope you had a great night.

:yes

No kidding, keep the bag of toys in the vehicle. It's not like I use them in private or anything :whistle:

What is the name of the original classical version of that song, please? I want to search different versions. I am having trouble finding the one you played exactly (I found part), but I want to compare it to others. I really need to get more savvy with this stuff.

Look up "O Fortuna" and you'll fine what you're looking for.

Carl Off - Carmina Burana 1st Movement "O Fortuna"

Apoptygma Berzerk - O Fortuna Never Dies

Apothoesis - O Fortuna

There's several versions out there partly because of copyright claims by owners of the Carl Off composition, which is based on 12th century church recruitment hymns. The following is from the Wikipedia article

O Fortuna

velut luna

statu variabilis,

semper crescis

aut decrescis;

vita detestabilis

nunc obdurat

et tunc curat

ludo mentis aciem,

egestatem,

potestatem

dissolvit ut glaciem.

Sors immanis

et inanis,

rota tu volubilis,

status malus,

vana salus

semper dissolubilis,

obumbrata

et velata

michi quoque niteris;

nunc per ludum

dorsum nudum

fero tui sceleris.

Sors salutis

et virtutis

michi nunc contraria,

est affectus

et defectus

semper in angaria.

Hac in hora

sine mora

corde pulsum tangite;

quod per sortem

sternit fortem,

mecum omnes plangite!

O Fortune,

like the moon

Stands constantly changing,

ever waxing

or waning;

hateful life

now oppresses

and then soothes

as fancy takes it;

poverty

and power

it melts them like ice.

Fate - monstrous

and empty,

you whirling wheel,

stand malevolent,

well-being is vain

and always fades to nothing,

shadowed

and veiled

you plague me too;

now through the game

I bring my bare back

to your villainy.

Fate, in health

and virtue,

is against me

driven on

and weighted down,

always enslaved.

So at this hour

without delay

pluck the vibrating strings;

since Fate

strikes down the string man,

everyone weep with me!

I like the dark, dramatic intro and the cool quotes one can spout off on a bad day.
