Drunk & Disorderly

Me being fairly unknown in the whole Scene of things, its probably no stretch to say most people here don't know I'm a StraightEdger.

In fact, I've never had a drink in my life.

What's disturbing, though, is this increasing band of people that seem doggedly determined to see me get drunk. And not just drunk: HAMMERED.

PISS drunk.

SOUCED.

Now, when a couple of people tried that on me, their desired end result was clear as a bell. Everybody else, though? Not so clear. What is this not-so-sudden, growing fascination with seeing me [falling down] drunk at City and Necto? I shudder to even think of the possibilities.

WTF?

A good friend of mine snapped and literally slapped a bottle out of my hand when I was just joking around about doing that. Now, it looks like people are trying to superglue one IN my hand... I think allowing that picture of me up on the Internet with a smoldering smoke in one hand, and a beer bottle in the other may've gotten some peoples' misguided hopes up, and put a target on my own back at the same time...!

Dude. Seriously.

There're plenty of drunks and lushes out there that I can NAME that would jump through burning hoops for alcohol! Why me? (The guy who would jump through burning hoops to get AWAY from alcohol)?!

I get the same thing. I don't enjoy alcohol (and yes I've tried it). Must be something about my body chemistry, just makes me feel icky and was no fun. I'd much rather have a bunch of caffeine in my system.

My guess is that they enjoy it soooo much they think they are doing you a giant favor.

(or else maybe they want to see you act silly).

and btw welcome!

I get the same thing. I turn 21 in 8 days and they are already hanging around me like vultures with gifts of cheap booze. Now, I am thankful for the gift...but for the money that they spent on a huge pack of really cheap beer they could have bought me a decent bottle of scotch.

Do yourself a favor and get a very nice bottle of single malt scotch, canadian whiskey, whatever. Anything expensive, not TOO expensive, will give you the satisfaction of drinking and will give you the power of holding of the people that want to see you drunk.

I myself have a legend going around about me. There were only three other people in Latvia with me from the group of people that know me...some say that I got drunk while others say that I sat around and watched porn all day. Who knows? Me, but as long as those people are trying to figure out what really happened over there they are trying to get me to drink...they are trying to get an answere out of me. So, maybe you should start a rumor with "pictures" and everything...send them out on a hunt.

As someone who is pretty far from the straightedge border let me say, don't let people get to you. My best friend rarely drinks and most of the time he has it's been with me. Now I didn't force him to do it, he did it on his own. If I offered him a drink and he said no, I'd of been perfectly fine with that. It seems like they just wanna see something new (you drinking). They don't seem to give a shit how you feel about it.

Oh, I can just see the pictures of me making a drunken fool out of myself. I can name names of who would charge money to have people ringside for that.

And hello!

I do have such a picture up, actually. As for actually boozing it up: I joined the Army at 18 and was deployed to a country where the legal drinking age was TWELVE. ! didn't start alcohol, and my high stress job couldn't drive me into the arms of coffee and cigarettes, either!

True enough. A friend just started drinking like a fish, again, thanks to an immature inability to resist "peer pressure" (which translates into bullcrap, to me).
