Simon Bar Sinister
Note to all who are interested: I saw World/Inferno Friendship Society in this same room on Thursday night. The Pike Room (are you sure it's happening in that part of the complex?) holds maybe 100 people...and that's probably stretching it quite a bit. Anyway, the Pike Room's entrance is on Saginaw; look for a door which opens onto a flight of stairs and go up.

pleasurekatzen
Was good to see FV again. The last time I saw them was waaayyy back in '02 out in Pittsburgh. Really, really did not care for the one opening band I saw, BMM. A vocoder, a girl wailing horribly off-key in pastel dreadfalls, and a less-than-inspiring sound do not a happy Kat make. Other than that, it was lovely. Edited April 13, 2009 by pleasurekatzen

NOT EASTER SUNDAY.. you probably could have packed the main floor.

It was pretty hard. And why why WHY were there so many cops out last night? My wallet and license is sad now...

Other than that, it was lovely. The opening band was XXX Car Ride. I listened to them for a few songs before deciding that this rock-band-pretending-to-be-industrial wasn't cutting it. The BMM girl wailing horribly off-key in pastel dreadfalls happens to be (appropriately) known as Siren. She's been featured in a number of Noir Leather ads. They had a few good beats, but, in my book, got more points for fashion than for music. I feel they may have musical potential if they were not under pressure for opening up a band of such international fame as Funker Vogt. Funker Vogt was exciting. The moshing was fun. I can't wait to see DJ Noir, Robotic Kitty and their friends again. Chicago FTW. And yes, this should have been in the main room regardless due to the ferocity of the pit. DJ Nocker
Right. It was pretty hard. And why why WHY were there so many cops out last night? My wallet and license is sad now... TheOsakaKoneko
I thought we saw funker vogt with Caustic..... Wait...that was the gothsicles...lmao HAHAHAHAHA I honestly enjoyed the Gothsicles waaaaaay more. But then, it's hard for me to even guess how much I normally would have enjoyed the show had I not just heard incredibly bad news about a friend right before they came on, completely ruining my mood and making me unsure what to do with myself...in addition to getting a $110 / 2 pts ticket for making a rolling stop before turning right on red...so it was actually a pretty fucking bad night for me. (The news about the friend, obviously, being way worse than the ticket...but either way, both were bad.) After 4 nights in a row of being out (2 of them out to 2 separate events each) before Sunday, I really should have stayed home anyway, so maybe it was divine punishment? But I would normally have enjoyed the show, I think, even though far heavier than my actual tastes run. I can enjoy heavy industrial quite a bit sometimes, if I get myself into it. I just..couldn't do that last night.

GothicRavenGoddess (3)
actually, it holds 300 not comfortably, of course... At least, that's how many tickets got sold for a show i went to. sardines have more room. even if its cold out, wear something light, cuz it will get really hot in there. anyways, sounds like a fun event. I'll be missing it, though. Have fun, for all who are going.

Msterbeau
I've been driving like a little old lady lately. I can't afford tickets. Let me also say that I thought both opening acts were either bad or inappropriate. Edited April 14, 2009 by Msterbeau

I was at a Midnight Oil show at St. Andrew's where they had somewhere around 1,400 people (the legal capacity is 970), and you couldn't even move. Fuck that. My wallet and license is sad now... Because it was Easter, and that city is poor, so they were out to protect and take your money. I always obey all traffic laws unless I know there isn't a cop about. Even when I drive like a douche though they never even hit me with a light or flip on their siren. I wonder why.... I'm also not someone who breaks a lot of traffic rules - except maybe going a few over. But they got me for a rolling stop. Does anyone really make a point of coming to a complete stop at a red light before going? There was an opening and I took it...that was my mistake... I know technically you are supposed to come to a complete stop, but giving tickets for rolling stops is such BS to begin with... GRRRRRR. I will be being careful from now on though, I'll tell you!
