Yep i am bragging

Recommended Posts

I personally dont enjoy a bragger IRL but sometimes hearing about the good things others have done or are doing is inspirational sooooooo.................

Have you done something you are extreamly proud of but you feel if you talk about it you might be bragging... but you need to tell some one...do you want to just look at some one and go na na na i got X and you dont.. why not do it here and inspire us all.

My curiosity about people in general got me thinking--so when does sharing good things in life end and bragging begin? I was thinking about this, just in general contemplating social faux pas, because I think in general people don't like it if a person complains a lot but they don't like too much self promotion either and I think it can be a fine line at times.

For me, the difference between sharing and bragging is context. Like, I would say I got an 'A' on a difficult test to someone who also did well on it, but if I know someone struggled with that same test and got a worse grade, would probably be a little uncomfortable sharing how well I did. It's the same with money--I wouldn't talk excessively about a good job opportunity I had with a friend that was having a hard time finding a job but wouldn't mind getting very enthusiastic with a friend that was happy about their job...that sort of thing...

Anyhow, it's a digression so in the interest of staying on topic I'll find something to brag about....hmm... well I *think* my boyfriend and I will be celebrating New Years in Rome, Italy. That's a good thing that's happening. :grin

There is a fine line! Hence why i made this thread, it is more for those who feel if they are braggin weather or not any one else sees they are bragging. Like one year after we got our taxes back we went out and bought a 52 inch widescreen TV, well i did not want to go around to every one i knew and say hey i got a huge freaking tv that is kick ass, but i wanted to tell some one. I have other things over the years in which i often feel as if i am bragging about it, weather or not the people around me would consider it bragging i did, hence i didnt share my good news. Any how more or less if there is anything you wish to bost about, bragg about, etc... i just though it would be nice to have a place to do it.

Hah, I just had a similar thing with the tv! :grin

My b/f and I got one not too long ago with this past year's tax return, and I was trying to plan a movie night with some classmates. So I mentioned the new tv in that "hey, why doesn't everyone come over, we have this new tv and we'll provide the munchies and drinks." In that context, I didn't think it was bragging per se since I was offering to share/host the event. But I don't think I would have been comfortable simply talking about it otherwise.

I know what ya mean...... oddly enough i just realized i kinda bragged about something yesterday not even thinking of it as braggin, untill i thought over the situation today....no one pointed it out so maybe no one saw it as bragging but i think i did it..I feel bad about it and i have no idea what to do. :erm

Any how i cant believe no one has nothing to just plain out bragg about, perhaps this was just not a good idea for a thread.

I've found the most wonderful man. I must be in some kind of heaven. He is loving, affectionate, dependable, sexy, gives the best massages, looks at me in ways that make me want to melt, says the most wonderful sweetest things, generous, gentlemanly, strong, tall, cracks me up with his silly sense of humor, shows me as well as tells me how beautifule he sees me, shows interest in things that are important to me, introduces me to things he likes and doesn't laugh at me when I screw it up.

oh, and he is hot as hell, has a good job and drives a sweet car.

Ok, maybe I went a little too far, nah.

I am sooooo happy that my just-turned 2 year old is just about totally potty trained. I don't think that's really bragging, I am just glad. No more $10 diapers. YAY!!!

Now if only she would decide to sleep in her own bed.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Yeahhhhhh, i know your relief 3 times over.....hell not having to run out atthe last minute casue you ran out is a huge relief........

as fer sleeping in her own bed, well i think the best thing to is be persistant consistant, stern, and follow through with what ever consequence you set for her if she does not sleep in her own bed, you will have alot of tough stressfull nights but after a short time your hard work will pay off. Just my thoughts on that.

If no one noticed I wouldn't worry about it too much...we all make those social faux pas from time to time, as long as you aren't doing it constantly most people probably won't even notice =)

thanks

though it has gotten me in to trouble.... whenever a cute girl walks by, my friends start chanting "do a split, James!" and then usually the girls start chanting it, too...... and i do... and then i want to burst into flames.

that's something else i'm proud of.

having girls hit on me, even though i look like a stand in for Gimli the Dwarf.

Here's three:

I gave up one of my guts (kidney) to a girl I hardly knew ... now I know her quite well and she makes a mean stuffed pepper

I once organized a group of street picketers and phone harrassers to get Meth Dealer to release his grip on an under age girl from my church that he had gotten all spun. Took us a month (and he threatend my life so I started knocking onhis door at 3 am) but he turned he loose and she got clean and stayed clean.

I pulled my truck over on the side of the freeway to get a ladybug off the windsheild so she wouldent get squished.

..... I think #3 is the keeper.

Not so much me, but one of my best friends (and long time poker buddy) is playing in two events at the World Series of Poker next month. Fucker...should have been me going (damn responsibilities)...but I told him not to come back without a bracelet. Wish him luck!!
