Introduction to Music

Rule of thumb on this one is to give us 5 bands that you really like, but aren't sure other people know about.

Give us their Genres' and who they sound most like.

1. Janus (Rock) - 30 Seconds to Mars with a bit of A7X

2. The Lifeline (Rock) - Little bit of Nickleback, dash of Tool, but otherwise a hard band to compare with other bands

3. Nimbus (Rock/Prog Metal) - Tool, APC, and Orgy can DEFINATELY be heard in this band

4. Fixer (Rock) - GnR & Alice in Chains influences make this a rock band to be on the watch for.

5. Tension Head (Rock/Metal) - They are gonna hate this, but Clutch and they follow similar paths.

I've done sound for them at I-Rock many times. I figured out the lead singer loves lots of echo in his vocals when he screams/yells.

This Morn Omina (Tribal-Trance-Ambient-Industrial) - One of the most interesting and innovative bands I've heard in the last 5 years. You never know what sound they'll take from release to release but it's always good. Request "One Eyed Man" or "N=FP"

Negative Format - (Trance/EBM) - why this acts has never caught on more at City Club befuddles me. Amazing sounds that often put Juno Reactor to shame. Awesome remixer as well.

Caustic (a hodgepodge of industrial, electro, noise and sexy R+B rhythms, a little bit country and a little bit rock-n-roll)

Already bigger than Rascall Flatts and should be bigger than Combichrist.

S.A.M. Synthetic Adrenaline Music (Danceable noise) - Fans of Combichrist should check these guys out immediately. They are opening for VNV Nation on the VNV tour. Have a feeling everyone will be talking about them afterwards.

Stendeck (IDM) - 3 releases so far that are all outstanding. Not so much club music, moreso for after the club and chilling out. Incredible, emotionally moving sounds.

800 Beloved (Alternative) - Detroit locals have released one addiciting CD. Sean Lynch, the main player in 800beloved spends his days working in a funeral home and his evenings writing and recording these quietly magnificent power-pop ditties. You'll hear influence from The Cure, The Psychedelic Furs and a host of other '80s hitmakers on here, all filtered through an ear for dark romance. Clearly Lynch's dayjob filters into his music, whether it be in the gloomy lyrics and corporeally obsessed song titles ('Mortgage Your Organs' and 'The Skeleton Collection') or the slightly unnerving sleeve photography, and you get the sense that somewhere beneath all that gloom lies a Killers-like ear for post-punk bubblegum - closer 'Cut Flowers' could reasonably be retitled 'Brandon Flowers', though this shouldn't be regarded as anything other than a good thing; Lynch is a good enough writer to rub shoulders with big acts, and production-wise his layered, heavily fuzzed guitars make all the right noises.

Hmm I can't come up with 5. However, the one I can think of off the top of my head is

16 Horsepower. David (Scary Guy) introduced me to this band and I've been hooked ever since. They classify themselves as gothic country rock. Very nice indeed.

A good band. I found out about them from the La Femme Nikita tv show.

Curiosity. She has a really strong voice and some excellent tunes. Very enjoyable.

CD title is The Forced Magician, since the band name is pretty hard to look up.

Very most highly recommended tracks would probably be Play With Us, Exist, and Your Son is Fine.
