TitsMcGee
That poor woman...at least Farmers decided that they were going to cover it since it is such an odd case.
jynxxxedangel
Apartment fires, due to careless smokers, people who overload circuits or use appliances with bad wiring, and people who don't know how to do laundry, have always been my greatest fear regarding apartment living. This woman's case totally takes the cake. I can't even imagine how disgusting it would be, to have to endure corpse drippings in my living space-- and then the added insult of the insurance company telling me I'm basically fucked. She is SO lucky they caved, and gave her the money. Edited May 2, 2009 by jynxxxedangel
peelingchrome
Since I read this article I did some asking around and it seems that they pretty much have to cover it, whether it's specified or not. It's just like with a suicide: if someone blows a hole in their head with a handgun the insurance company cleans up the biohazard in addition to any damage caused by the bullet. I dunno if it's law, but it's common practice.
candyman
How did the smell not alert people of him being dead sooner? Is he as lame as I am to the point where you could be gone for weeks and nobody would notice?
TitsMcGee
How did the smell not alert people of him being dead sooner? Is he as lame as I am to the point where you could be gone for weeks and nobody would notice? I kinda wondered the same thing too. BUt I come from the land of where one gets to know their neighbors too.
Troy Spiral (13)
In that story there it seems to be about two things "omg gross, weird" and then "wtf? Im not covered?" Seems like the more "odd" cases are based on the mood of the adjuster. "nope not covered.. .fuck off." ... "oh wait, some cheesy journalism coverage about it? Oops , we meant to say its covered.". If you don't know any better and/or don't know who to call or what poll to climb up you could be out of luck. Massage the system a little bit and all the sudden things change. I had a drastic situation years ago which I am not broke from, due to things not being covered (car insurance related). I just assumed that was the end of it. In the last month weeks someone who knows what their doing and actually worked for the exact department that turned me down out of hand, did their homework and all the sudden tons of stuff that was not covered is now being covered. (Not going to do anything about my now MIA 401k, savings, or stock account though.) Does not pay to be polite and just suck it up. You just get blown off/take advantage of. Squeaky wheel gets the oil, (or replaced) unfortunately.
