Do you "Believe In Sanity"?

Recommended Posts

If you look hard enough, NO ONE is perfectly sane.

There are insane actions.

Exactly. Maybe this was a topic started in jest but it's something I've thought about a lot.

Every human being has a few little quirks and neuroses. Is it interfering greatly in one's life or the lives of others around us? If not, then who cares with what word others may label us.

I believe every one of us are capable of being either driven over the edge or driving ourselves over that edge of complete insanity, given enough pressure, starvation, physical imbalances or mental stress.

The key is balance in our lives and satisfaction with one's own progress. Anyone can get out of balance, given the right set of circumstances.

It's a choice whether to allow ourselves to fall over that edge. Some sit in horror when discussing murder or other horrendous crimes, but I think sometimes that very denial could breed that very environment for this type of thought to thrive.

I think the miracle is that we aren't all killing each other, and that self control, that humanity, reaching out to others rather than living only for ourselves constitutes the spark of the divine that we experience, although rare.

No Ma'am...I was not being The Jester..

(Well..oK..I can't not be The Jester...but I was being as serious as I can really be.)

We certainly do!

THEY...have deemed I should not work in kitchens..or garages..or anywhere...anymore.

I have crossed that Line you speak of..& stood on the edge...& jump roped with it..(you get the point)..

Oh...plenty of people are killing each other in plenty of places.

(EDIT TO ADD)

Like...why did NOONE directly answer the question? :p

I did answer the question. My answer is that there is only perspective. Sanity is defined by each person.

Sure there is a text book definition but even definitions that can be found in text books are subjective to perspective.

Or in other words - it's all in how you see things and for me, I don't think it is real but just a matter of my perspective.

NOW you answered it!

(clearly) ;) {remember...I'm insane!}

I think that most people in "civilized" societies are fundamentally insane, and swallow hook line and sinker whatever those who appear to have authority tell them.

This is why I never trust ANYTHING which comes out of mainstream news media, government officials, universities, schools, textbooks, experts, etc. And I take all the alternative stuff with a big grain of salt as well.
