What Are You Thinking?

Being raised by a mom.

Kid comes home from school.  Drops backpack on floor and sighs heavily.

Mom: "What's wrong?  Did you have a bad day at school?"

They sit down and talk about it over milk and cookies.  They reach a solution and the child feels better.

Being raised by aunt.

Kid comes home from school.  Drops backpack on the floor and sighs heavily.

Aunt (stretched out on the sofa, wearing an oversized t-shirt hanging off one shoulder, bare feet kicked up on a stack of throw pillows while staring at the TV): "S'up?"

She then proceeds to pretend to listen to you while suppressing the urge to turn up the volume.  Nodding every now and then at what appears to be appropriate breaks in the conversation.  Kid is so self involved in their recitation they fail to notice and eventually walks away feeling vindicated.  Aunt notices kid is missing and continues watching TV.

Just a little silliness.  I do look up.

I'm all nostalgic and stuff.  I miss my babies.  I miss the little toddlers and the mean mugging cute little temper tantrums! I miss the little pidderpidder. I'm crying, PMS and mother's day and lack of coffee, maybe? Don't judge me.

I can help you with that.  Just need to get you over here and have Noelle bring the little ones over.  4 y/o and 3 y/o, you'll get your fill of the pidder padder .

Yay, I managed to stay awake long enough to order the pet food and get something to eat.  I think these past 3 days of straight yardwork, appointments and scheduled meetings have really taken a toll on me.  I think I had better get a nap in before the restaurant run tonight.

I think I may have bitten off more than I could chew with my project surprise this weekend.  I only managed to clear one bedroom, install one door hardware set and rekey 3 locks while house sitting 3 locations.

This was not the day I was planning on having.  Thought I'd be cutting grass.  The reality is I wore myself out babysitting all the girls.  Then Kali became cranky.  Then, a few hours later, I made everyone take a nap.  I just woke up at 1:30pm after dreaming about food.  Now I need to salvage some of this day because tomorrow will be busy.
