Southern Rock.

I've often called Florida our "tandem state," as many of our Michigan residents vacation, or have some other ties there.

There are parts of it I don't care for, and there are also places there that are too magical for words. I happen to like the slower pace of the rustic hamlets, as well as the Keys. If you don't like traveling through one-horse, one-traffic light podunk towns, perhaps Florida was not a wise choice for a road trip. You have to drive through small towns to get to most every "happening" place there.

I went to a huge free Metal Fest down there, aeons ago. I can't remember exactly what town it was in, because I took two hits of orange double-dome microdot mescaline before we left off from Georgia, and was seriously fukengruven. :hrhr:

I didn't mean that everyone down was like this. Fortunately their are cutting edge goths and metal heads. It mostly comes from the old timers. The hard core goths and metal heads don't like the southern closeminded mentality. I am not against the south, just mason dixie line thing and calling us yankees or damn yankees and lumping us together.

Well, dude, I might suggest you try to ignore it. I know, I know.. It's hard to ignore, believe me, you think you're in hell? Try Louisiana. Fort Polk is smack in the middle of LA where I saw some really fucked up racist/bigotry shit. Since you're obviously stuck there I would suggest ignoring it. They have their culture, and we have ours. It's not something you can judge people for, after all, most of those people have grown up around that culture, and it's not their fault for having a way of life. Everyone has their own way of life and who cares if anyone else agrees with it or not? As long as it's not actually hurting anyone.

Oh and by the way, I know many southerners who would deny the fact Florida is actually a part of the "South". I'm sure it has it's parts, but the overall consensus from people I've known, met, or otherwise talked to, in Louisiana, Texas, Tennessee, Arkansas and Alabama, is "Florida is a yankee state."
