wanted: a cheap car

Recommended Posts

WELLLLLL...

I know the oil and water pumps were going on the car. The dummy lights had been going on and off periodically, since I first got the vehicle.

It also had eaten yet another spark plug, as of a few days ago.

All I know, is I was driving home from Kroger last night, and was about a block or two away from my house (in the sub), when I turned the corner....it revved up loudly, and a resounding POP! was heard.

The starter turns over, car has battery power, but the engine isn't firing at all.

Methinks Betsy has had the big one. :cry

I need to find some good auto classifieds on the internet!!!!! HALP! Looked on CL last night, and found a car I was interested in, but of COURSE, that ad has expired as of today...and all I did was bookmark the page, rather than taking down the e-mail or phone #. /facepalms

I really hate my luck, the way it runs.

I'm pretty sure the engine is dead. The old girl has over 250,000 miles on her. But yeah, you're more than welcome to drop in. Just give me a ring, before you leave work.

I look like hell, but you've seen me that badly off before. I don't have anything to eat around here, either. :cry

Try Mother Wa****s or one of the other car donation places. (I blocked out the name 'cos I have the same last name and it isn't real common, PM me if you don't know who I'm talking about) When I moved up here and needed cheap transport quick, I got a great truck there for very little loot.

You might also post on your local Freecycle list. Good luck sweetie!

And no, I'm not related to Mother W.... LOL that's the Detroit test, I know someone is from there if they ask me that!

Unfortunately, there is no way for me to get out to Mother W's. I live all the way out in fucking GULAG.

I've been all through CraigsList, and so far, no joy. Everything I have called on, is gone.

I know there are other good auto classifieds on the interwebz! I keep getting directed to dealership sponsored sites, rather than private seller ad sites. Someone please help!! I need to find a decent, running, roadworthy, automatic transmission car, truck, or van--- for about 400 or under--- and QUICK! I don't care what the exterior looks like, as long as it's road legal, mechanically sound (lights, wipers, windows, signals, doors, etc), has clear title, glass in the holes, and seats to sit in. Who cares about stupid shit like radio, heat, or A/C?

Anyone who's seen the hooptie I've been driving, knows I'm not difficult to please. I've always found Post-Apocalyptic looking vehicles to be attractive.

Nope, it's not been resolved. I'm still riding shank's mare (NOT-- Jinxxxy doesn't walk alone on the streets, t'isn't lady-like).

When he gets here, we're gonna look at every promising-sounding heap on Craigslist.

I found a few cars on autotrader that I want. in the search parameters, you can select, brand, style, price and distance to you. There are a lot of people selling their cars on there, it's not just dealers.

Yes Craigslist is a good start....BUT....you have to go check the car out in person and bombard them with uncomfortable "whats wrong with it" questions. If you can wait like a month...I may sell mine.

Its a 1994 Lincoln Towncar (white)

new brakes, tie rods, ball joints

high mileage, but honestly I think this thing has a lot of life still in it for sure.

May eventually need new tires, one leaks a little

but its all loaded with power everything

cd player too - great sound

leather seats

seats 6 comfortably

currently takes $30-$35 to fill up the tank - but the gas seems to last!

let me know

I'd be asking $1000 even
