Hair dying advice needed!

So my ex tried to give my younger daughter the pink hair she's been dying for. It only partially succeeded. Seems her hair has more of her mother's red in it then she thought. Bleaching it out prior to putting in the pink only succeeded in getting it to strawberry blond. The pink didn't last long either.

What to use to really get the red out and make for a somewhat more permanent pink?

...there are exacting necessitations in the operation...I have been making my own & other's hair funny colours for 17 years & I learned the process from my Aunt who had (at the time 10 years) pro experience (& a specialization in colour.)

There is something called Red/Gold corrector that you can add to the bleach to take out red and gold tones. You can buy it at Sally Beauty Supply.

For "funny colors" it is best to use it on dry hair (I have discovered that the color doesn't stick to wet hair) and leave it on for a couple of hours. Applying heat helps too. The red in my hair lasted for a couple of weeks. You may also want to try a slightly darker pink too, as it will show up better.

Clairol 40 weight liquid w/ BW-2 bleach powder

& I use Adore' brand dye.. Special Effects works well if you blow dry it in {it does not say to, but it lasts longer}

The Adore HAS to be heat treated.. I blow dry mine until the dye is completely dry & then I leave it in for about 20 min afterward.. You can pick up a conditioning treatment pack for about $2 at the hair store you get the dye at.. That will keep it shiny.

When rinsing the hair USE COOL WATER.. as cold as can be withstood {THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT}

This also applies to when she washes her hair after the initial dye job

She should wash less often then normally if she wants to make it last longer.

Um...BW2000 is better. It is specifically designed to lift colour to the proper point.

That is in a 1:1 ratio...you need the bottle to apply it.
