Call for Good Karma

As many of you know, I am currently a research fellow, to enroll in anesthesiology residency June 2010.

About a month ago, I found out the grant that supports the fellowship is being rescinded by NIH. It has been a mad dash to find a way to keep me gainfully working in some form. The options are:

Find another grant to pay for me, (which is possible, but long and painful process.)

Start me in anesthesiology residency this year (which will be a crash course, as orientation started last week.)

I meet with both the program director (boss of the residency,) and the primary investigator (boss of my research activities.) As much as I would like to finish the work, grant issues are a pain in the ass. The decision is going to be made over the weekend, (starting today,) of which direction it will go. A meeting has been called Monday at 11am to finalize the solution.

Right now, I feel I have burned most of my good karma just to get this far. Good karma, prayers and chants in hopes of being in residency would be appreciated.

Too bad you didn't catch wind of those changes ahead of time, before you began your research project! :X It must be incredibly frustrating, the thought of just abandoning all, and jumping headlong into your residency! Even more so, because you'll be a couple of weeks behind everyone else!

May all the luck that misses me, knock you cattywampus.
