Face Corset...

Recommended Posts

...it certainly confuses me...I never heard of such a thing...nor a fetish that would warrant it nor require it...

SO..yeah...$725 has this Gypsy double confused! :p

*contemplates face-bondage*

:no :no :no

I could make that thing...for like...five dollars.

I should start doing that and run these guys out of business.

Reminds me of those things old rich ladies wear, to keep from getting wrinkles, or after a facelift.

Yes! LOL they used to sell those in the back of women's magazines! I knew it reminded me of something, just couldn't place it. They were supposed to get rid of double chins, among other things.

Face Corset (transparent), 2003

PVC

To Fit the Face

One of the last in the series of Face Corset garments designed to temporarily 'reconfigure' the wearers face to parody popular cosmetic surgery techniques. Transparent Face Corsets are the most extreme in the series and were designed to reconfigure the face of the wearer with minimum attention being drawn to the garment.

The 'Face Corsets' were made at the invitation of the Victoria & Albert Museum for the event 'Short Cuts to Beauty' and then later funded by a Wellcome Trust People Award.

Made in response to the self imposed brief 'what if it were considered taboo to surgically alter the appearance of the face for cosmetic purposes alone: could 'modifications' be made by the use of a garment as corsets do to reconfigure the body'.

Face Corsets are not masks, they do not hide but actively present the face in an alternative configuration.

The Face Corsets have been exhibited widely at both the Victoria & Albert Museum and Science Museum London and at Macquaire University, Sydney Australia and have been featured in a number of publications.
