Tallahassee, Florida -- One state lawmaker is trying pass legislation that would make having sex with animals illegal.

State Senator Nan Rich filed the bill, which passed the Senate's Criminal Justice Committee Wednesday morning.

The proposal bans any human sexual contact with animals. Violators would face third degree felony charges.

If adopted as law, it would not encompass certain husbandry or veterinary practices.

The bill must gain Legislature approval and a signature from Governor Charlie Crist before it can become law.

"Certain husbandry or veterinary practices"- Like WHAT?!?

But I'm glad they've solved all the social problems, etc. in Florida and the legislators have time to worry about things like this.

Um..at the risk of sounding that I know to much...

...when 2 dogs (purebred) are mated, someone helps them "get it together"...keep it there...& to separate when they are done.........if you don't, the male can get REALLY hurt...if he does get hurt, he will not like doing that anymore ;) then the boy dog is worthless...(farm boy 4H knowledge 101)

There is also "whackin' it"...if they use invetro to inseminate the female...the vet jacks the dog off...& sends the sample into the other vet, or the other part of the office for that part...(source, Ron White, "Um..how about, I just let you do that, he likes me too much already!")

Artificial insemination is often used for bovines and equines, too. The bulls (billies, bucks, rams) and stallions can injure the cows (ewes, does) and mares, which is not permissible when keeping stock animals.

Speaking of odd tales of Floridian bestiality..

Did anyone catch the story about those two Russian guys, who decided to break the "no porking porcupines" law as a joke? It didn't end well for them. Trust me. I'm glad the little porkie defended her honour so valiantly.

I know a guy who helps the stallion get his weenier in the mare. It happens. Race horses.

OK... yeah I'm aware of all that stuff (among other things, once knew a lady who used to go into great and unwanted details of her chihuahua breeding biz)... I guess I am just really unimaginative 'cos I don't really see how any of that could be considered "sexual contact" except maybe the dog-jacking. To me, "sexual contact" would seem to imply that the human involved is doing the act in question for their own gratification, not the mere fact of a human touching an animal's sexual organs.

And the fact that I'm even worrying about any of this shows that I have way too much time on my hands.

...& you just dragged I further in...

...since I would not have even had this thought with out you (my fav frieks)...

oK...what if a certain vet...REALLY liked his job?

Would it be illegal JUST because he liked getting the dogs off?
