A day at the park in LF

Yesterday I took my three nieces to see their uncle Tom and uncle Poober at the "fire apartment" so they can play on the firetrucks.

After they got bored with the firetrucks we went to eastern park to the playground. My nieces are all minding their business, smashing about on the jungle gym when a family from the "bad" side of town shows up.

Now historically, 'round these here parts, there's always been feudin' between families from the south-side and families that bathe and are literate. Many a promisin' young lad found themselves all caught up in the fightin' that consumed many of the youths of the early days in LFNY. Some enemies do not so soon forget.

All seemed to be civil at least for a while, until one of the dirty kids pushes my 4 year old niece off the swingy-jumpy bars. So I give the kid a hollerin' at and tell him to keep his paws off of her. Of course the intrusion can't go unanswered, and white trash Rhonda has to start bellowing and cursing in front of the kids about how "You got not right to reprimand my young'ans without I say so."

So I told her, "OK, bawl all you want, as long as hes not pushing my kin around." Of course, because of her pedigree and proper upbringing, she screams louder and starts walking toward me firing off at the mouth all manner of foul language, and I realize that I've got my hands full as she and her 2 constituents easily weigh in at 250 apiece. All of the dirty kids start circling me and trash talking.

I'm thinking to myself, "What the hell is going on in Little Falls,? The damned police station is literally a block away and in plain sight. Don't tell me these ne'er do wells are literally going to solve a playground dispute by jumping me." I'm getting ready to headbunt my way out and tell my nieces to run to the police station. when I hear a loud horn and a bunch of young voices yell "ROUGHRIDERS HO!!!!!!"

From the north of the park came dozens of kids jumping off rocks and charging toward the playground. I glanced over my shoulder and was caught flatfooted from the surprise. It was all of the clean kids storming the ramparts to save the day.

Just as they converged on the scene, several dozen more kids from the south side charged from around Albany street and a violent relentless brawl was underway. These kids meant business; zips, whips, chains and blades. Kids were getting press slammed off the top of the slide while others had their heads brutally slammed against the slidey pole. One pair of clean kids had wrestled down the leader of the southside kids and gave the merry go round a proper spin. As the merry go round reached it's maximum speed, the southside leader's faced was thrust into the whiring bars of death. He screamed as the apparatus smashed his face repeatedly, thwup thwup thwup thwup.

Fists and feet were flying liberally as many a decade of old family rivalry had their score settled by the new generations. Bodies flew and were broken on the bloodied grounds of Eastern park under the ominous shadow of Benton Hall school. Despite the many determined and capable combatants on both sides, it was clear that the Rough Riders were taking the upper hand. The southside kids broke from combat and ran for the river. The swirling melee instantly became a rout as fleeing kids were pulled to the ground and given a final pummeling before being released to lick their wounds.

Jeers and victorious battle cries followed the broken band of dirties. It would be a day long remembered and softly would the southside kids step for years to come because of their great and humiliating defeat. The park would be safe for clean kids everywhere.

Consequently the names and locations used in this tale are really the only elements that have any matter of validity to them along with the fact that we did go to the park.

The End
