Preparing For Halloween

I'm in that mood and am currently trying to plan ahead for the Halloween season. I'm getting supplies and planning new ways to decorate this year on a limited budget and with what I have collected over the years. I'm going to try to do something bigger then this from last year.

I should start planning a costume idea too, but I just can't seem to think of anything really good.

So does anyone else here like to plan ahead like me and what are you all planning to do for that season?

I am helping my two best friends decorate their house. Yet your house seems more ideal in that a theme suggests itself to me immediately: haunted farmhouse. I'd do a gruesome replication of the couple from "American Gothic" on either side of your walk in front of the house. Put some scary backlit murderous children in the second story windows. Place cornstalks all over the front yard. Hide the Grim Reaper complete with scythe in the corn. Put 'sacks of grain' with body parts sticking out of them on your porch. Make a great many Jack o' Lanterns, and maybe even litter the yard with 'decaying livestock'. Zombie cattle are cool! Perhaps 'mad cows'?

I like the werewolves as well. It brings memories of Underworld Movie Part 2, but in more twisted way.

I like that clip! It was hard for me to choose the best. I found a lot of it to be cute. Yes, I know this is suppose to be scary stuff, but I am unique gal. :)

I'm still working on it due to some decorations still in the garage for another Halloween party....

And I think one of my inflatables goons died today....

Did anyone else take pics of their displays?

I just got some more monsters for October. Three new skeletons, three new PVC pipe monsters, another big spider, a burnt corpse, a Celler Dweller, a mutant rat and two furbies (Don't ask.). Shopping early has gotten me some really good deals.

I have a degree in industrial design with a concentration in special effects, and every year I yearn to do a crazy big Halloween display. Time and lack of facilities always seem to bite me in the ass. This year, we'll have our own house with an actual garage and workshop, so maybe this will be the year. :) We leave some of the Halloween decorations up all year long inside the house: bats, ravens, skulls, etc. I've been thinking about hosting "workshop days" at the new place, where we can all pool our resources (tools, materials, expertise, etc.) and work on various projects like convention gear, holiday decorations, and whatnot.

I nominate you to have the official DGN Halloween house. We all put some effort in and on Halloween a crew of us mans(and womans) your place to scare all the local children away. :yes

PS. I didn't know you had an ID degree. I do too. Where from? We should talk shop more often. :-)

Its funny I dont really decorate my house but I work at spirit halloween so I get to decorate there. The kids that scream from the decor are kinda funny but the grown men that scream like little girls and run out the door is priceless

I would be interested in that. I have a few mannequins that I would like to modify for Halloween. Plus I'm debating if I want to start getting into the animated version sometime in the near future.
