Would anyone go one Friday A month to Clutch Cargos : I-Lounge in Pontiac, MI First Friday of every month to a goth night to see live bands and such. I want know people oppion before I say yea or nay. I would have to charge cover of $10 / person. Also, would need some DGNers that would split the rental fee every month of $750 everytime till we got this going. I would have pay the owner 1/2 up front.

I hate to be a spoilsport but that $750 every month may be hard to meet in an economy like this. I wish you well though. Isn't there another alternative than the $750 a month?

That's what I was thinking.. I don't know anyone here that would be able to swing extra cash towards something like that.. & $10 cover is a little steep, considering most people are broke.

I love the idea of another option, but I just don't think this is going to work.

$10 cover? You guys better be giving out pony rides, have a roller coaster, and be sure that cEvin Key himself is there to DJ if you plan on making ends-meet with that steep of a cover. Clutch kinda sucks anyways.

What kind of "goth" bands are we talking here anyway? This is a maker or breaker, I must know.

o0o I tried to respond to this earlier.

I agree that the $750 is a little steep. A $10 cover is probably in place so that you can sorta make up your $750 deficit. Have you looked into maybe a different venue? I mean it IS Pontiac. What about this Eagle Theater, which is downtown Pontiac on S. Saginaw street, that the Marquis De Sade Ball was in? They're not doing much with the place, perhaps they would have a more affordable venue, not to mention it would be a kick ass location for a Goth bar.

This is a HUGE venture you're getting yourself into. Not only is there advertising (which will cost you money) but usually you have to entice people into coming into your establishment. Usually you do this by having no or low cover and cheap drinks. Opening day, would be the biggest promo type thing, where you give away stuff, or you have half price drinks for the first two hours, and or SOMETHING. A good DJ will cost you money, and even getting help from your friends involves a lot. I'm not saying don't do it, but perhaps not expect to make any money till the night is taking off, six months down the line (reality would be probably like a year or more).

Oh yeah, the once a month thing, not a good idea, people get confused as to what day of the month you're open. If you're going to have success, you will want to have this type of event EVERY week.

Just my few cents. I'd check it out tho. I always love new things. :)

I personally wouldn't drive all the way out to Pontiac and pay a $10 cover charge to get into a club, unless it had been established for a while, and everyone said it was really something spectacular with stuff that I couldn't find at any of the cheaper clubs around here. Sorry.

I disagree, though, that only having a club night one night a month until it starts to take off is a bad thing. I think some new clubs don't make it because they might have a good opening night, but can't keep the numbers up from week to week, because people figure that if it's happening every week they can catch it any old time.

You'd have to pull 75 people every time, right? And you're talking about the iLounge, not the main room? Place holds a couple of hundred comfortably...look, I have no idea what the geographic spread of the potential audience for this is, but I can read the locations below the avs here and see that there are only a handful of DGNers (at best) within a 15-20 minute drive of the place. If Pontiac is what you're looking at, have you thought about one of the smaller rooms at the Crofoot? The Pike Room, perhaps? You put on one show there already, and you at least know who/what you're dealing with.

I do hope you find a place to do this.
