and this

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ageism

this is not just a teen and 20 something country

people in their late 30's to mid 60's deal with this alot.

age is a %$&^ing number not a judging tool, neither should your status be either.AMF!

Hmm. I'm a unmarried male in my 30s and have yet to feel as if I'm being discriminated against because of age or marital status here.

*phee discriminates against you so you don't feel weird*

Um... as a relatively young person (28 years), I can assure all of you that I find discrimination of older or younger members to be massively stupid. We all enjoy the fashion, we all can type... what does it matter if we are younger or older than one another?

Oh...&...just WHAT, does: "GTFU" mean?

Are you telling me that, though you are an old man, you can not fucking cuss in public, so you had to couch it in the secret language of the youth of the day? THAT, my friend is some lameness.

Its assumptions like this is what will annoy most people, btw would you cll people at a funeral "emo" or call some one "emo" after they lost their job??etc etc.this is not directed at you only, not everyone in this world walks around with a big smile everyday.read the facts before you assume.

I don't know what you are talking about. I haven't seen that sort of disrimination on this board. The only thing I've seen is someone not liking someone's post due to the content of that post. It is true that there are some people who don't like other people on this board, but it's not for the reasons that you are stating.

A few points I'd like to make.

First, this thread had no mention of a funeral nor job loss. So what does that have to do with age discrimination or content of this thread?

You previously mentioned that discrimination occurs on this board. I've not seen it but that does not mean it hasn't happened. So please enlighten me. Where did this occur?

You mentioned the ambiguous "other people". Whom are these other people or shall the comment be discounted as hearsay?

Rev made an attempt to display that he was jesting in his initial commentary, hence the ;)

Now let's play nice ladies and gents ;)

Well this is pretty puzzling. I'm not married and I'm pretty sure I'm way older than you and so are a whole lot of other members here. You really shouldn't feel out of place.

If you or the fellow you mentioned who felt he was also being discriminated against would like to point out specifics to any of the moderators we will do what we can to help.

The ONLY assumption I made was that the F in GTFU meant FUCK...I was correct, what's your problem here? That I think it is lame for a grown man to hide words like fuck, shit & the like? What would George say about that? LAME.

I know that I did not ageism you.

Yeah, not everyone can smile ALL the time...but, you know...it helps if you try once in a while.

What does a funeral have to do with it? Bbut, yeah, if they had on sagging tight pants with non-pointy shoes, & too much black on...fuck yeah...I'ld tell 'em to 'cut deeper next time & we'll throw them a party'...

It is hard to tell the goth from the emo now-a-days...

...seriously...you should have that checked out.

:harhar:

Gotta say, I also don't get where this entry came from...I don't think anyone on here is ageist...it's one of the most mixed-age places I see, actually. Everyone treats everyone else pretty much equally, whether 18 or 45. I don't know what prompted this.

Gotta admit, even I didn't know "GTFU". I'm more familiar with "GTFO".

Okay, DM, you and I have been friends for a long time, and you know I'm cool with you, so hopefully I can say this to you without you taking it the wrong way:

You've got to calm down a little, man! I don't know if you've had a specific problem with one or two people bothering you privately, but I do know that the majority of the people here don't care about your age or your relationship status, in fact I'd venture to guess at least half the people here don't even pay attention to how old someone is, or whether they're attached. All they care about is how you say the things you say, and you bring this subject (age and status) up all of the time. Stop focusing on it and I guarantee other people will, too.

I don't know what triggered this thread from you, since the links that you posted are not from this site, and really have nothing to do with this site. No one is looking down on you for getting laid off. We're all dealing with the repercussions of this fucked up economy right now: old and young, married and single, skilled and unskilled. There are plenty of people here who can empathize with you :yes

*goes looking for the "respect" emoticon and can't find it* :X

    • I am currently floored.   FedEx did a massive 6 box delivery to the wrong address.  I had an autoship order scheduled to arrive before this past weekend.  Nothing showed up.  I contacted the order site and they had a link for the order...a photo of all my boxes thrown in the snow and up the sidewalk of a residence that was not mine.   You would think that at some point, the driver would have looked at the delivery address after they kept throwing box upon box at this location with no shelter from the elements.  They didn't even knock on the door to inform the residents that massive 65+ pound boxes were left all over their walkway.  Nope.  Just dumped them, took a photo as they were walking away and left.   I wonder what the person who found all of those misdelivered boxes must have been thinking when they saw them.  Maybe they kept everything to use, distribute or sell.  No idea.  No claim was filed on that end as of yet.   Fortunately for me, one of the sites that I ordered from, replaced everything at no extra cost.   Unfortunately, now I'm concerned for the other items yet to be delivered.   Needless to say, I'll be watching my notifications like a hawk.

    • ~~~~~ Yeah, thank you for the check-in.   Happy to say it was all a misunderstanding.  But she pulled out her "ghetto" and that's when things went South.  I get very professional minded when I enter into situations like that because when someone starts bring the court into conversations, I'm in court 2 times a year, every year, so don't go there with me because I will get legal all over you.   She did try to change what she thought she might have said, but I had to call her on it because it's all in written text.  Then she apologized and we were able to have a decent conversation.   I know I joke about me talking so much that people don't hear what I say except for keywords that they are looking for, but that is exactly what happened here.  She heard "payment", "money" and "help out".  It was crazy.  I literally had to have the entire conversation all over again, but I definitely condensed it to only address those 3 words.   Things are back on track, but I emphasized that if she every needed clarification for anything, please say something first instead of jumping to conclusions, then questioning that conclusion, then answering that conclusion, then getting upset at the answer and taking it out on someone who doesn't have a clue what the San Juan Hill just happened.   But this is exactly the reason I do everything with a paper trail.
