Sounds like you got some bad seafood.

I got a bad oyster from the Airport Inn in Waterford, once. It made me so sick, that I laid in bed, sweated, shook, and hallucinated for two days. To this day, I swear there was a mariachi band playing in my belly. When I was finally able to get up, I ran to the bathroom and puked, and everything I had eaten two days before came out, all at once-- it had just been sitting in my stomach like a rock. It took my bathrobe and three bath sheets to mop it all up.

well i have had food poisoning many times but never got high from it...man it was SEVERE I was in a public bathroom for a half hour didn't even know what it was at first...thought I got slipped something...

I don't think its common for this to happen thus why I think I came close to death I really thought I was going to die for a min there...

no pukey just pooey

I think thats why I got so high I absorbed allot before it expelled....

My mom has a tin can of grease she cooks with on her stove (unrefrigerated) its a southern thing...so I am very familiar with the food poisoning bit.

<< This hillbilly keeps her jar of bacon grease in the refrigerator! My mamaw never did, though! :p

It's funny you mention southerners having dangerous food storage practices. I remember hens' eggs just being left on the countertop, right in the egg basket they were collected in, for days in a row. No refrigeration. Amazingly, none of us ever got sick. Granted, an unwashed egg retains its natural pellicle, so it's less likely to spoil in a hurry.

I also remember eating from pots of beans that were never refrigerated--they were just constantly being cooled and reheated, for days on end.

The old adage about hillbillies having "cast-iron stomachs" holds much truth. :hrhr:

wow jinxy, we have much in common...

My family also leaves the butter out...never got sick on that. That way its always soft.

My kid texted me earlier this year when my parents were up for a visit...they insist on the family meals taken together if in the same household...

so my kid wakes me up with a text that goes: 'Is it safe to eat the breakfast??'

Not everyone gets texts like this I am sure...but its amusing.

I told her no, its not safe to eat the breakfast.wink.gif

    • I will say it isn't all bad yet though.  We survived four years of the orange asshole.  We might survive another four.  All is not lost, until it is. There are those on that side that are going to do everything in their power to take and keep that power though.  Instead of the illusion of a one party system masquerading as a two party system, it really will just be a one party system.  People are talking about actively moving out of the US and renouncing their citizenship, or revolution if it comes to that. The woke and DEI scare tactics of the Russians, Chinese, and others have set in.  They have been trying to debase the USA for decades now ever since the world wars and I think  it's really starting to pick up steam.  All isn't lost yet, but it's currently 90 seconds to midnight, and that number is decreasing all the time. We just have to wait and see.  If people hit their breaking point by losing their comfort and convenience (and possibly their food/housing) then people may be held accountable for their misdeeds. Also the president is now a convicted felon so...  LOCK HIM UP!
