jynxxxedangel
How delightfully goth, and romantic. I would do the same, if faced with a similar circumstance.

Oh_My_Goth
That's so sweet.. I think, especially at that age, people should be able to make that decision.. But there is the problem of where to draw the line.
Msterbeau
The line should be drawn at "I'm an adult and I don't want to live anymore".

If I was reading the same story about, say, a couple in their early twenties where only one partner was terminally ill, however, the idea would make me rather uneasy. jynxxxedangel
True love isn't scary. When you meet the man or woman of your destiny, you won't hesitate to follow or lead that person..and you won't bicker over whose turn it is to come or go first. You'll just go together. EvilEve
*sighs* the likelihood of the guy living for much longer after his wife passing on her own, w/o the assisted suicide would've probably been anywhere from a few months to maybe a year or 2 after. usually, when a couple is together for that long, or are in love for that long, one doesn't last as long w/o the other. it's a deeper connection that a handful of us will only experience. maybe more than a handful have experienced it, we just never really hear about it because it's a bitter-sweet moment. so the guy choosing to die beside his wife is sweet. majority of us won't be able to choose how we die, we go whenever we're suppose to. the others who can't cope with their life, unfortunately, are the only ones who can choose how and when they want to go. granted, it's not the best, however, we being able to have free will and choice, do just that; choose. fate can be a funny thing. you either choose to go onto the expressway and be part of an accident, or you choose to take the long way because something doesn't quite "feel right." ok, i'm done. need to stop now before i go off on a slight tangent. This reminds me, Rev, of something very poignant I've witnessed on several occasions. When a mated pair of ducks, swans, or geese are crossing a busy street, and one gets hit by a vehicle, the other will always remain by the side of the deceased-- usually resulting in two flat creatures on the asphalt. It's very, very sad. I always cry.

TitsMcGee
Part of me finds this sweet. But the other half thinks people shouldn't be playing God. I can totally understand someone who is terminally ill ending their lives, but someone who isn't dying shouldn't be allowed to end their life, just because they would have to live without their S.O., as already said, the man would have probably passed on his own in the next year or so anyway.
