I'm suprised this hasn't been mentioned, Lipsticks in Clinton Township (previously Starbar and a few other names) has a goth/Industrial night every Wednesday, with DJ Scary Guy providing the tunes. If you don't have anything to do on Wednesdays, come on out!!

There's nothing going on sunday,monday,or tuesday.... but, they choose to do it on a night where there has already been a night running for 10 months.

if that is the case then why not do it on a thursday or friday night, which are much better nights for bar business. wednesdays are tough enough already without there being competition.

well Thursday nights are goth night at the Ritz and that is a hard night too!! and Friday you would be competing with city club.. honestly we really do need something on Tuesday nights.

there's nothing wrong with another night opening, but it really doesnt make much sense.

most people go out saturday to cc or monday to luna. getting people to come out a 3rd night a week is really tough, why make it even harder and have competing nights.

but people will do what they do so it is fine.

I'll probably have to check this out at some point even though it's really far north. D: But since we lost Scary down at the Works, themusic hasn't been as much to my tastes, especially since the other DJ I liked a lot there also is often MIA. I don't dislike any of the DJs there but themusic they play lately is not my style so I don't enjoy myself, so there's no point in going. So lately I've been staying in. Though to be honest I'm also just really tired a lot lately...pushing myself to do 3, 4, 5 nights a week is just no good when I work normal hours. But once in a while it is nice to go out mid-week, and I'd love to go somewhere where I can hear amazing music when I do so I don't regret it. XD

That said...I went last week to Gracie's Underground and the music was TO DIE FOR amazing PERFECT. It was just...incredibly fun. Is it always like that or does it change weekly? The place was waaaay too tiny and drinks were not cheap but the music...oh god the music. All 80s goth...love it so much. I could make myself go out every week for that and just get a water and dance all night. Anyone know?

(Sorry I know this thread is about Lipsticks, and I will go to that, but since we've already digressed into talking about Wed night events in general, I had to ask...)

Unfortunately, the Michigan economy can't support that :(

There are kinda just too many nights to do everything now. Justs too many unless you spend your entire life only clubbing. I wish some place would hold a dinner-time one instead of a club-time one - like 7-11pm. That could be fun. But now it's just like...wow. But if a place wants to have a night, they're allowed, and sometimes the addition of a new one is awesome, even if it's on the same night as another. Especially if one is hard industrial and the other is 80s gothrock - they have different (if very overlapping) crowds. I agree that it makes it harder for any one to become successful and keep going though. That is a shame. I'm just not sure what the answer is. I'll just say I'm not not going to Deadline lately because I'm going somewhere else - I'm not going because most of the recent times I have gone I haven't had the wonderful time I did the first few times I went.

I think we could use a new Monday one that's not way out in A2 though, just btw. XD

THIS I would probably go to pretty often since on Monday my sleep schedule's still so messed up from the weekend that I don't go to bed before 1-2 anyway.

But if you want a night with NOTHING, there's only Sunday, if this mysterious thing Kat's eluding to happens on Tuesday. I think some cities don't even allow you to sell on a Sunday. And a lot of people don't want to go out, whereas Wednesday is like, "over the hump! let's celebrate!" time. So I could see why a place wouldn't want a night then. There's really nothing left if you want to be the ONLY thing that night. (Even Wednesdays had Luna before, which, while not goth at all, is kinda awesome..at least for me.)

Also I didn't mean to "call you out" or anything - you know I loves you. It's just that with both you and Scary Guy gone, only Wilhelm plays some stuff I want to hear, and most of the night is stuff I don't like to listen to...not that I hate it, but just not stuff I love enough to sacrifice sleep for it, if you know what I mean.

perhaps it doesn't make much sense to you because you're one of the ones running a night on the same night that this is being advertised. This is almost the same as when you brought up the idea (again) to have a club night on thursday nights, which would basically be competeting with Luna. From a personal standpoint I feel that there should be an alternative to the norm, this promotes competition between the 2 nights, and actually forces you to try to come up with something to hook your patrons into going out.

Not to mention, not everyone is able to get to certain areas for these events. having one at a place thats a bit further out helps to expand the scene to reach people who can't get to downtown detroit or to royal oak, etc. Its just one extra thing to think about and consider as an option.

Heh, I can't even get to Royal Oak.

There is NOTHING south of Detroit that I've been able to find until you reach IGUN.

Don't get me wrong - I <3 IGUN....but I just really do not want to drive an hour+ to go anywhere lol.
