NEW EVENT Goth Industrial Weds. at Lipsticks

Recommended Posts

perhaps it doesn't make much sense to you because you're one of the ones running a night on the same night that this is being advertised. This is almost the same as when you brought up the idea (again) to have a club night on thursday nights, which would basically be competeting with Luna. From a personal standpoint I feel that there should be an alternative to the norm, this promotes competition between the 2 nights, and actually forces you to try to come up with something to hook your patrons into going out.

Not to mention, not everyone is able to get to certain areas for these events. having one at a place thats a bit further out helps to expand the scene to reach people who can't get to downtown detroit or to royal oak, etc. Its just one extra thing to think about and consider as an option.

hahaha hmm That's actually a really good point. Starting a "goth 80s" night on Thursdays takes away from both Luna's Thursday 80s night (not that they would be hurt that much by losing the business...that place is crazy crowded) and the Ritz's Thursday goth night. Wow.

Good point. Well-played, sir, well-played.

(Not that I'd necessarily mind the goth 80s night - sounds like fun. But it does kinda negate this whole argument, or at least turns the tables on who's on what side of it.)

On the distance front - again, Monday, please, Monday, A2 is faaaaaaaar.

Heh, I can't even get to Royal Oak.

There is NOTHING south of Detroit that I've been able to find until you reach IGUN.

Don't get me wrong - I <3 IGUN....but I just really do not want to drive an hour+ to go anywhere lol.

That's because there is NOTHING good downriver.

(And this comes from a Lincoln Parker, born and raised. And there is the possible exception of Wyandotte. ;P)

Hell, I kinda dig the competition point. It brings out the best in a place. May the better venue win? Either way is too damned far for me.

Why oh why did I move down to this part of the state?! Wrrryyyyyyyy.

Oh yeah, I was young and it was for a girl. Then I got a job down here...and just stayed.

Oh well. My fault.

Hey! We have ModEx! (The Modern Exchange)

:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

God, I hate being downriver. I'm further south than LP. ><

I don't even know what that is...

Well, my parents now live in Brownstown so I lived there for 6 months upon moving back from Japan before moving to FH. That SUCKED.

ModEx is on Dix-Toledo just north of Northline.

Last time I went, there was about 20 people there.

For me (when I'm able to make it out) it's about hearing actual goth/deathrock being played and not just a Sisters and Bauhaus track played and the rest being ebm/industrial/metal.

When I'm out on Wednesdays Deadline does it for me. :wink Not to knock the other goings-on(yes, I've become a kinder, gentler Deadcat) but I think folks know me enough to understand what I look for in a goth night.

Helps that Deadline is closer, too. :)

i see your point, but the thursday 80's night doesnt really work for comparison.

though both nights have music from the 80's, they would be very different.

after 10ish luna plays 80's pop aka the cheesiest mega hits of the 80's.

the night i plan on doing is ALL alternative 80's.

look at it like this,

my night is going to be 120 minutes.

luna is the 80's version of trl.

on another note, i have heard other people voice there needing to be a monday "goth, etc" night in the detroit area.

hmmm

nocker & auspex do a great job with the deathrock, as does saint with the ebm/noise. stevie plays the elektro/weirdo stuff,& i play the old skool industrial/goth.

dead-line is the MOST musically diverse night in the area.

regardless, there's 3 option for wednesdays now. just have fun where ever you go.

Someone missed my sarcasm throughout. Not really what I meant, or maybe it was, I have no idea now. Just trying to help spread the word on a new night. Not trying to steal anyone away from any other events. I don't work for them either, if anyone wants to know why they chose weds over another night, go and ask them. Can we stay on topic here?

Eh, I don't think anyone missed your sarcasm... It was pretty clear! :) I think the subsequent replies were also jokingly said, so I don't think there's a problem. :)
