GOTHIKA
I'm being blunt honest; job hunting really sucks where I'm at. I want to give up and do nothing but I can't for I have a child that I'm trying to get custody and I feel so depressed every time I put applications in, call back and they tell me there not interested. I cry every time I hear that and I'm running out of time and options. So be honest with me folks are you having a hard time finding a job as much as I am? do you wish you had a better paying job than the one you got right now? express yourself here I'm in need of encouragement, support and advice here! AstralCrux
Don't do so many call backs. Just after an interview. Good God I used to hate when people would call to "check the status of their application" that if they did it more than once it went into the toss pile. It wasted so much time for my staff that I'd rarely even let anyone know we were hiring. Send small thank you cards after an interview, cite specific examples of how you could be an asset, and keep it short. It is quick and doesn't waste the time of the staff and interviewer. Also, consider how your resume is written. I'd be happy to review it, just pm me.

When my brother (we are not blood related, just know each other for a long time), lived in MI, he use to conduct interviews as one of his job duties. He said those that did the thank yous notes, impress him. I say a good cover letter as well. I have applied to several jobs and been turn down. The worst for me, is when they insult me and tell me I do not qualify for a secretary job. Not trying to be stuck up by saying that. I need a job that is flexible. I am a caregiver to my daddy. Trying to find a job that is flexible, is very hard. I wish you the best of luck! If I may, hugs, april
jynxxxedangel
I see plenty of classified ads for the kinds of jobs I have the most experience in. My only problem is that I don't have a car, anymore; and I have no way of getting to work. Hell, I see at least six or seven bartending/cocktailing jobs on CL right now, that I would be a shoo-in for, if I only had reliable transportation! It burns my ass, not having any wheels, and not being able to find anything (aside from fast food) within walking distance. xenoterracide
if only i can find a job right now ++ good luck. I need one too. But until then there is school. Eventually the BS and the work I do outside of work will get me where I want to be. At least I have to believe that.

Have found allot of places dont even advertise when they hire, some hire people they know, so you have to network ask EVERYONE who is hiring, apply at places even when they are not hiring, and re apply as some throw old applications out, usually every 6 months

xenoterracide
I do try. Unfortunately I'm not all that familiar with all the local companies. And yes my one lucky thing is that I don't have to be concerned with anyone's finances (or well being) other than mine.
