Their's an A.A. club named Winners down here in Jacksonville, Fl. Winners? Yeah right. The mornings arew great and not all people are bad. What I'm upset is the favoritism their. Their is a couple of people who favor. One is a lady.

My mom was going through cemo so I put a prayer request for her and had to do it numerous of times because it was erased off the board. But this lady's request remained on the board during the dozens of times because they favor her. She is a very arrogant, selfish, and self-centered woman. I talked to the people their they just said they didn't know and turn their heads saying "I don't know". Yet they can maintain her request.

I understand that many of you are not familiar with A.A. but it says and emphasises "Principles Before Personality". You see these people treat me this way because they don't like Wiccans or Pagans and because I'm from up north which they consider me a damn yankee.

Yeah man, I stopped worrying a long time ago what people thought. I still look young because of that too lol. If you go to some place for awhile people will eventually pick up on you. When I first went to City Club, I looked like a dark jock lol. Eventually I adapted and am an old schooler now where most know me. Just gotta keep the attitude low.

Oh thanx... It's not all of them, it's just a few who wanna embrace the Rebel Flag.

Hey dood, it's okay to have your own opinions, and it's okay to dislike people, but sometimes you carry that hatred a bit too far, and I'm afraid that you're generalizing a bit too much. I'm sure by now, most of us know how much you dislike where you are, and how they treat you, but what I don't think you realize is that your demeanor, and general nastiness toward anyone from down South is not allowing any room for the more open-minded southerners approach you, and make things down there a bit less miserable. Positivity collects positivity.. negativity generates like.

Either way, you're not putting out a very good "play nice" vibe in your posts, and that's not following our "play nice" rules.

Thank you.

To some people the rebel flag is a racist symbol, to others it is not.

No one is really right or wrong in this... it is a symbol after all.

And yes I have met some people who are still fighting the Civil War (The "War of Northern Aggression" as they call it) while the rest of us are getting on with our lives.

BRILLIANT!

I will quote you.

yeah I saw the rebel flag nearby on a corner I guess where a teen died because he crashed his car at the spot. But apparently its not the racism aspect, but rather the rebellion or him having been the rebellious type, is why they had the flag there. My first thought was racism because of the rumors I had heard about Howell being a racist town. But after finding out the truth that it was a nearby town outside Howell that had the racists, then I was glad to have heard the true story.

I am seriously not capable of giving any kind of objective input on anything to do with any form of 12-step. But Hunhee makes a good point. There will always be assholes around but you want to make sure your wariness of the assholes doesn't scare off the righteous folks.

There are some really good points in this thread, and definitely the way you hold yourself will affect the way people treat you.

I have to say though, I grew up in the hills of East Tennessee and it's difficult for anyone who has always lived in the north to understand the huge cultural differences. (Remember FierceCritter's impressions when she moved south?

I know it's a sweeping generalization to say the south is more closed-minded but some stereotypes are based in fact.

I am not opposed of the south. I love it down here and made a lot of friends. Another words it's not me frowning on them it's them frowning on me. I could care less how different they are, so I tolerate. It's just some them who don't. Their is a lot of good people too.

You know, to come to think of it now, it's a very small minority. I just don't use names because that would violate their privacy. I just tend to get discourage about other people sometimes that it baffles me. Again, it's only a few people. A very few. I am also missing Detroit a little.

Some people in the South have closed minds and don't tolerate as much as other people do but who cares? Just because those are big "buzz words" right now does not mean they are the right way or the only way to do things. Until there is a law passed that supports complete open-mindedness and that you have to tolerate everything people can do as they please. I can shake my fist at those stupid flex-fuel and hybrid vehicles all I want and nobody can stop me. I can also tell the Unions that they are stupid and nobody can tell me I have to stop...unless they go back to having the muscle around like in the old days.
