What other OG Rivetheads will be there (OG = Old Goth, not Original Gangster :tongue: . Apparantly only old people listen to SP now considering what kinds of non-goth/non-industrial/ebm bands are constantly posted about in this forum and the Music Discussion forum)

You know Phee and I will be there, not going together, but he did mention that since he loves cEvin and Ogre ALMOST (note I said "almost") as much as I do that he will be in attendance. I can also safely assume Wilhelm will also be there...?

Anyone else going to join the cool people party and run into Pest, Phee, and myself at Skinny Puppy?

For those that DON'T know (since this board SEEMS to be better for bubblegum punk updates now than updates on gothic and/or rivethead oriented music) Skinny Puppy will be performing on November 11th at the Royal Oak Music Theater. I BELIEVE doors are at 7 and I think I paid roughly $20-25 a ticket through their box office. Don't ask me who the opening band is because A) I don't give a damn and B) All I know is that I want them to vacate the stage as quickly as humanly possible so that I may bask in the power and the glory of Ogre.

Fuck yes, I met MDD at DGN Skating Night last year and I've met Bav at CC.

Will be looking forward :happy: Are you going WITH Bav, or is that just coincidental?

Well, due to your convenient location, at least you don't need to worry about a ride. Maybe we can form "The DGN Community Attempt to Sneak Backstage at Skinny Puppy so as to Bask in Ogre and cEvin's Glory In-Person Association" and we can call ourselves DGNCASBSPO&cGIPA for short.

Catchy acronym, yes? They'll HAVE to let us in with that.

I don't bother to defend bands I like, I like them, period. A good band doesn't need the defense of fans, imo, their music should speak for itself. Not everyone is going to agree on musical tastes here. Wasn't going out of my way to offend, just if I hear a band's music being played in a Hot Topic, I automatically gauge them as either bubblegum punk or emo, which is indeed a bi-product of mainstream preppy culture and not of the gothic/rivethead subculture (hence why Hot Topic itself is owned and operated by The Gap / Old Navy and you always see cheerleaders walk in there and walk out "dark and angsty" because mommy wouldn't get them a Corvette for Christmas or their boyfriend broke up with them on the playground, which is why I am pretty adament in my boycotting of their merchandise). My Chemical Romance, Marilyn Manson (especially now that he is 100% in the emo fadstream category to me now after hearing his last two shit albums), Fall Out Boy, Evanescence (sp?) especially, Boys Like Girls, Panic at the Disco, etc, all of those types of bands, I throw them all in the same category, it's just how I am, I categorize music a LOT. I just came in here to post in what I figured would be the already-existant thread about the Godfathers of Modern Industrial/EBM/Electronica-ish music coming to town and couldn't find such thread and then glanced down, saw two non-goth bands being promoted, and just threw them into the title. Wasn't trying to make anyone in particular angry, for the record I don't even know what members created either of those threads.

People like what they like, I don't listen to Industrial/electro/EBMish stuff ALL day, every so often I need a Madonna break myself :tongue: .

I'll take the word "preppy-ish" out of the thread title if it offends people so badly, it was in jest, it wasn't my intent.

But I'm sure we can ALL agree that this next video clip encompasses the GOTHEST THING and GOTHEST MUSIC TO EVER COME TO HOT TOPIC!!!!!

Actually, all of those bands PLUS Gary Numan, Bjork, and Radiohead and you have my playlist :tongue: . Really just the first album of LP though, brings me back to being in high school, a much simpler time of my life filled with hope and no bills.

The weird thing is, I'm on the AFI website forums and I always have to defend the bands I like and now I'm defending the very band who's fans I have to defend the bands I listen to from. And it was me who posted the threads too. I shop at Hot Topic, I go to Warped Tour, I like bands that I guess you would consider emo, but I like a lot of stuff. But yeah, sorry I freaked out on you. I'm just excited to see both bands. I like "goth" music too. =P

I have a dry and sarcastic sense of humor that doesn't always translate easily into type. You can continue to listen to bands that could be consider emo-ish, I'll continue to listen to non-goth music like Goldfrapp, Frou Frou, Fischerspooner, Metric, and Dethklok and we can live harmoniously together all on DGN :happy:.

But NOT those fuckers that listen to COUNTRY! BLECH!

I used to LOVE AFI.... Hard core fan, went to every concert met all the guys..... Course that was late 90's into the 00's... Davey is a dick in person and after sing the sorrow they started going way into mainstreamville.... Agree with the "not preppy" but by no means are The Used and AFI anything of much individuality these days!

There was a thread about the skinny puppy show posted on the baord about a month ago...so I dont see why your upset.

As far as other bands and what people like... Goth and real Industrial are dead to the world. The scene has evolved into something different. It sucks but oh well. I like the new stuff and the old stuff but what are ya gonna do.

Oh and last time I saw skinny puppy i was the youngset person I saw there, so you are probably correct that it will be a old crowd.
