Eyeliner help.

I assume you mean pencil. I can't really help you there, I wear nothing but liquid.

Achieving a cat eye look takes practice. Find a tutorial you like on youtube and just keep trying till you get the outcome you really like. Don't be afraid to alter it to make it easier for you, or to get the look YOU want. =) Experiment, make-up is FUN!!! :yes

What she said.

The key is to take the time & just play around with it. Don't wait 'till you're going out somewhere. Just sit down with a mirror and some makeup remover, and experiment 'till you like what you see. Good lighting is a must... it took me FOREVER to figure that out.

I like Urban Decay (24-7 Pencils & Liquid Liner) because it stays put... if you want smudge-proof, this is the shit. LA Splash is good, too. Neither costs $100... or even $20. Both can be found at Ulta. On the Urban Decay website they use the Ink for Eyes cream liner to create some serious cat-eye looks, I haven't tried it yet but sounds promising! Being a cream it might not last as well... but a little Primer Potion will take care of that.

Ummm...I know I am a dude so I shouldn't know but if you want something really cheap that works there are alot of people around here that use grease paint from the military stores. It is kinda ghetto but it works and it stands up to a whole lot of punishment...they were selling it at Leather and Lace for $1 per pencil...and no it really isn't grease and due to recent regulations it is ECO friendly so you can feel good about that if nothing else.

It doesn't smudge, lasts for a couple days if you don't wash it, and stays on under all conditions so if you need to go on a covert diving mission to rescue a hostage on a boat in the lake you can still keep your looks!

Lol. I was exaggerating. But certain brands ARE expensive. I'm gonna try some of this stuff. I think I need some new mascara too. The only mascara I have is from an older makeup kit I got so I don't use it. I wanna try that new Lash Blast stuff. Seems promising.

Ok...another question...where could I get a good set of make-up brushes that aren't too expensive but work well? And how do you clean make-up brushes? I always just wash mine with soap and water but I'm not sure if thats how you're supposed to do it or not.

Honestly, Target has a good selection of cheap brushes. I had a a bunch of cheap target ones that worked fine before I splurged last year on my BB's. They make pre mixed brush cleaner in pretty much any brand you can think of :yes

As for mascara, I have thick lashes already so I never use a primer. Loreal Telescopic in blackest black is what I use. One coat. It runs about $11.00 and I love it.

If you want something that stays put then, regardless of what actual line of make up you use, I recommend using an eye primer potion like the one urban decay makes.

I only ever wear eye pencil anymore if I am being extremely lazy and don't care how I look. For times I want to look good and special occasions I either use liquid liner for a thin, clean liner look, or I use a smudge brush and dark eye shadow for a smoky eyeliner look. I have eye pencils in probably 7 or 8 different brands, and they are pretty much all crap after you use them a couple of times. I will say that the urban decay glide on pencils are good for color intensity, even though they are a pain to sharpen, are impossible to get precise lines with, and smudge/wipe off way too easily.

The "cat-eyes" look is best achieved with liquid liner. I wouldn't even bother to try it with pencil; you'll never get the pencil sharp enough to get the precise lines you need for cat-eyes. You need to practice with liquid liner, but I've found the best way to apply it is to start as close to the lash line as possible, because the further you get from the lash line the easier it is to get it uneven, start at the inside corner and work your way out. If the line is too thin you can always extend it out once the lash line is appropriately darkened. With cat eyes start by drawing the line just a bit past the corner of your lash line. Keep it pretty much straight with just the slightest curve up at the end. For the bottom lids, use the liquid liner from the outside in and go no more than half way in. If you want make-up on your whole bottom lid use the black eye shadow and the smudge brush very lightly to make a smokier line. Also, if you are going to do cat eyes, a good, dark mascara is a must.

If you want smoky eyes, take the smudge brush and a nice dark eye shadow (I prefer glittery black myself) and rim the top and bottom lids with eye shadow, wiping away the smudges with a q-tip moistened with make-up remover as you go. If I want my eyes nice and dark I put a thin layer of black liquid liner on the top lid over the black eye shadow.

For liquid liners I like Urban Decay and LA Splash. I haven't tried Wet and Wild liquid liners, but I've seen them in the store and they make some neat colors and are cheap.

I am currently trying to find a new sparkly black eye shadow I like. The one I use now is Lancome, but I've heard recently they test on animals, so I won't be buying more Lancome once the stuff I have is used up.

I recommend Ulta for brushes. I can't remember the name of the line, but they have a pretty decent line of them on the "cheap" side of the store. Both full and travel sizes. Most of my brushes are Sephora, if you want to spend the money, and I've heard good things about Bobbi Brown brushes, but never used them.

For brushes I like Palladio and Face Secrets, both available at Sally Beauty. I've been planning to try the line Tygerlili mentioned... from the drugstore side of Ulta... I can't remember the name either! I don't even bother coveting expensive brushes anymore, since I bought a Shu Uemura powder brush on eBay which turned out to be really crappy... sheds worse than my cats LOL.

You can get brush cleaner anywhere brushes are sold, cleans much faster & more thoroughly than soap & water; dries faster too.

I can't give you advice on liner, as I use the cheap stuff, and set it with eyeshadow lol

BUT, I DO watch ALOT of YouTube tutorials, and I'm gonna post a few for you to do the cat's eye thing. :) I LOVE watching makeup totorials. I may never use them, but they have some AWESOME ideas! :)

Keep in mind that you can use any color. I posted these to give you an idea how. :) My favorite one to watch is a lady that does the second and third video I posted. :)
