TheGimp
what do you do to ease it? how often do you get it? how long dose it last? for the past 6 months i have had this idea for a graphic novel stuck in my head (yea i know a goth writing Gothic literature surprise surprise) and every now and then ill hit small to large road blocks and it drives me bonkers and cant seem to think of anything else besides getting past the writers block....so my question is what do the other writers here do to get past there blocks? what do you do to inspire creativity? etc etc
Simon Bar Sinister
all I can suggest is to write something every day, even if it's just a few words.
Scales
I had writers block coming up with a reply to this earlier, but here's some stuff.. Sometimes writing whatever you feel like first helps, the trick is to branch out to find out. For me its usually poetry or intentional random things. Watching a good movie can be extremely inspiring. Similarly, watching a bad movie can sometimes inspire you that you could do better with your story. I never write serious projects without having a series of events listing the ending. Even if some of that ending will be somewhat changed, I think this is extremely important. Let your characters make decisions based on their developing personalities rather than constrict them or their reactions to your plot. Listening to music and putting out ideas. Writing out a list of the major events of chapters as a cheap outline. Writing a lot and roughly regardless of how bad it is, then going back and revising/cutting/padding when everything is done. This is how novelists write like machines.
jynxxxedangel
Don't pressure yourself. I find I do my best writing immediately upon waking, before I am completely coherent.
