jynxxxedangel
I was totally expecting something like this, due to the push for nationalised health care. Smoking is a liability. Just wait, it's going to be bans and restrictions on what we're allowed to eat, next...
Scales
I had heard a rumor that hookah was going to be banned and after reading this that might be the case. EDIT: Behind.. http://www.healthkicker.com/712874096/the-ban-on-flavored-cigarettes-too-little-too-late/ Damn.. I would've tried those. I don't think Uncle Sam will get away with banning shisha. There would be people of Arabic descent rioting in the streets, and raising all sorts of hell! KatRN05
Not really surprised. As mentioned in a previous post, they are seeing things like smoking and drinking as liabilities. Soon they will be taxing your Mt. Dew or Diet Coke or Cheetos. I think the Governor in NY wanted to tax the obese or something to that effect. Destroit
I honestly don't know if it would have made a difference what douche was voted in I do, that's why I vote. I know McCain wouldn't have made cloves illegal and tried to push some socialist freeloader healthcare system...hence why I voted for him . Cap and trade wouldn't have happened, he probably wouldn't have made a ridiculous stimulus "bailout" plan that costed us billions that we'll never get back, etc. Oh well. The thing I hate is that I DIDN'T vote for him and yet still have to deal with this shit.
KatRN05
The problem with the bailouts is now everyone wants a bailout. The government cannot possibly bailout everyone. They shouldn't have passed that bailout bill. It's not working, thousands and thousands of people remain unemployed. I don't know what's going through our reps' brains right now. They are too concerned about saving some freaking fish than the people who are losing their homes, jobs and businesses.
candyman
I was called crazy a few years ago when I said tobacco would be targeted...now what? Obama should never have signed a company over to the FDA when it has already paid its dues and has followed every rule since then. However, they know what is best for us so we should listen to them...listen to the same people that believe that companies are still putting ads in circulation, sending ads to kids in the mail, and handing out free cigarettes to kids on campus. I loved cloves but I can't really argue against people that have the ability to still be living in 1970.
Destroit
For the record, Obama doesn't give TWO FUCKS about the children of America, neither does the FDA. Why do I say that? Why not ban high fructose corn syrup, additives to food, harmful food dyes, ALL trans fat (none of that 0g per SERVING stuff, it still has trans fat in it, what bullshit), aspartame, monosodium glutamate, HARMFUL chemicals on our produce, and the harmful antibiotics, pesticides, and poisons that our livestock are forced inhumanely to consume and then is indirectly fed to us when we eat these animals? But cloves. That's the number one threat to our kids? What a fucking joke. I have absolutely no respect left for this President and didn't really have much to start with in the first place. jynxxxedangel
If you read the official text - the hookah tobacco is effected by this. Prepare for all of Dearborn to be rioting in the streets. The Arab-American folks AREN'T going to take it lightly. The custom of shisha is very deeply rooted in Arabic culture, and they will take this as a personal blow. I think the entire thing is absolutely LUDICROUS, myself. I ask you all-- WHAT'S NEXT? Things aren't going to get any better. Small indulgences that we all enjoy and take for granted are going to disappear, one by one, until people get angry enough...and then....
