well tell her I said happy b-day, and as far as all this goes, I have hated the club for a long time, so this was bound to happen, I dont like that place anymore, even the thought of getting ready to go up there is easilly pushed aside, Id rather sit at home on a friday night, buy some jack and watch movies and save money then go there. As far as notice about the show I posted all over the place that I was playing, on here, on my lj, and on my myspace, so you should have at least seen a bulliten or a post, but none the less its no big deal. I'm sorry I will not be attending city for a very long time to possibably ever at all...I have done my 4 yr duity there, and I dont think I'm up to signing up for another 4 yr term :-p

Ummm... You've been a member here since April, made 31 posts (to date) and upon a quick check, just over half of them have had something to do with your band's gigs - from flat-out advertisements to discussing people not attending them in this thread.

Now, I've met you, liked you, and don't have anything against you. And if I were living in the area, I might have even come seen your band play, as I'm a former Detroit-area musician myself and know how much it sucks to wish more people you knew were in the audience.

However, it seems a bit odd to be down on an entire board & cast aspersions on what kind of music is and isn't welcome here over a few people not doing something they told you they would. Particularly when your input here has been close to 50% advertisement.

Now, if you were more active on the board and could count a decent number of board members as actual friends or at least well-known acquaintances, I could see where your feelings might be justified. But considering your overall short time here, low-level of activity and involvement, I just think blaming (and leaving) an entire board is an overreaction.

Not that I'm suggesting you cater to the whims of people here or, god forbid, become some kind of shmooze just to coerce people into coming to your shows. Gads no. But I've seen even long-time members end up with poor attendance at events due to lack of interest overall.

It's nothing personal towards you, I can plainly see that. It's just the nature of the beast. It's horribly cliche', but the goth crowd doesn't seem to be all that social outside of pretty regular events & clubs.

A glance at the thread about "why don't you go to CC on DGN night" will show you there are a good number of people who find it hard to get themselves to do ANYTHING of a social nature.

It blows, and I know firsthand that "what an unsupportive bunch of ingrates" feeling all too well when it comes to people you thought were your friends or even LOVED you not giving a rats' ass about your music. But you have to just learn to expect it, and not take it personally.

My own "fix" for that problem was to just stop inviting people to my gigs. Their loss, I figured.

umm I posted in the music section, and there is a link to the website which will take you to our myspace account which has like 4 songs on it, and for your info, I have been on this board for years, and I know plenty of people on here, as far as posting on here, any post that I usually start is about 80's music and stuff and it dont get much hits, since the site moved here all of my old posts didn't come over with me, so I have had more then 31 posts thank you, troy if you read this do me a favor and delete my account my mail box is getting spamed up with theese stupid repleys from peole that dont know me, you arent even the people i was writing this too, its the 10 people that told me in the post I made that they were gonna come out, thats what made me decide this, so the rest of you that dont know can just zip it on this thread..

You may have been on EZB DGN for quite a while. But my point was, since moving here to this version, 50% of your posts are advertisement for your band.

I've seen nothing but low turnout at 'goth' (using the term as loosely as possible here) music shows in Metro Detroit. Is it poor advertising or market oversaturation? I'm asking seriously as there is lots of good stuff out there that is being overlooked. Even with my limited exposure to the local music scene (and music in general) there is already way more music out there then I could ever hope to support or have time to listen to.

I havent been to any shows in several years for various reasons. (mostly health related) Hell, up until the last few months i havent even been out of the house more than half a dozen times and to go to the doctors. I drag my corpse down to CC once a week (and this week twice) and even that sometimes is to much and i feel like i've set my health recovery back by doing it. And generally i just dont enjoy shows the way i once did.

I littereally listen to just about every kind of music from classical to goth to metal to even some top 40. I'd say at least 99% of the DGNers listen to more than just one type of music.

As for promoting something, putting a lot of energy into it and then having no one show up.... it can be depressing as hell. I been there a zillion times over the years. It is true though bro most of the average "DGNers" dont know you. They just know you as a guy that posts his show info now and again and sometimes comments about city club sucking. Its not an "insult" to you. Posting show info is great (and theres a lot of "DGNers" that post , basicly just their show info and thats it, and thats fine). But people dont feel like they "know" these people and are less likely to go check out their shows.

Just as aside : If i can help fix any of this somehow , PM me please. Nothing to "leave the board" over.

I wasn't able to make it out cuz my boyfriend's grandmother is in the hospital dying so we had to go to Indiana that weekend so he could say his goodbye's.. even if I didn't go I wouldn't of had a sitter for the kids.. Sorry.. but I still want to go check you guys out soon!

Cuase it didn't hurt the show, I mean the place was packed, but I was expecting to see alot more familiar faces in the crowd, and I just kinda felt like wow none of my friends showed up for my first show, cuase of course there will be other shows, but they missed me getting covered head to toe in silly string, they missed the awesome speech that bob dedicated to me, and basiclly they weren't there when my on stage behind a bass cherry was broken, but thats the past, and I had a great night none the less, so thanx for the kind words ;-)
