Homicidalheathen
stories abound on the too sexy looks for little girls this year http://www.hollywoodheartbreaker.com/2009/10/28/mileys-sister-is-a-prosti-tot/ http://www.hollywoodheartbreaker.com/2007/10/31/halloween-costumes-for-little-girls-too-sexy/ I lent a teen some of my goth attire but she is 17 so... how old do you think a teen should be to be allowed to dress this way? is 9 too young? StormKnight (1)
9 is WAAAY too young to be dressed like that. For their protection, they shouldn't be dressed or have clothing bought to dress like that. There are enough sexual predators out there to put the child at considerable risk (perhaps this is my paternal instinct kicking in, but one predator is one too many.) Before the teen years, it is on the parents as purchasing parties not to buy this. To be consistent, it should proceed through the teen years to age of consent for the respective country (18 for the most part in the US.) As much as the need for teens to start discovering themselves and experiment, it is on the parents to discuss and enforce some decorum. After the age of consent or independence, then they can have full access to dress how they please.
Homicidalheathen
I follow the Kardiashians...they had a 9 yr old who could work the stripper pole pretty darn good...I think its different in Hollywoody, you see your older sister doing things and you copy...I know I did. http://www.huffingto...e_n_338703.html there is a better pic of the dress. I have one almost exactly like it. Halloween usa is the best place to buy goth club attire me thinks. http://jezebel.com/310859/kim-kardashians-9+year+old-sister-works-a-stripper-pole Edited October 30, 2009 by Homicidalheathen
TheOsakaKoneko
The Cyrus one is a bit too much, but the ones shown on the other page don't look that crazy to me. I'm NOT all about letting kids dress sexy - I find it disgusting. But these don't really seem sexy. I think people are just thinking too much about it, and that is the problem more than the clothes themselves! When I was little I wore a Flapper outfit with a shortish skirt and black eyeliner lines down the back of my legs to mimic the seams they had back then...and a wig and makeup... Thinking back, if an adult or teen wore that, it'd be sexy...but it never occurred to me that it was sexy back then when I was 8, and I don't think most people saw it that way. It was just me wearing 1920s fashion. I think people need to stop fixating their own insecurities on the children around them. There ARE some inappropriate things for kids these days...Halloween costumes, and even everyday wear. I just don't think the two outfits shown in the second link are in that category. KatRN05
Hollywood is a different world. I just think it's absolutely unacceptable for any parent to let their 9 year old walk out of the house dressed like that. It's disgusting. What values are they teaching their kids? Oh yeah, that's right, they have none.
Reaper
I think letting them dress that way is over the top. Its just feeding the sexual predators fantasy to the point where they look at all the little kids that way. And using the makeup to make them look older isn't smart either. Let them grow up when they get into their teens.
creatureofthenyte
Just because the kid has famous parents doesn't make it okay to dress a 9yr old to look like she's 22. In a way, I kind of think that dressing such a young little girl like that is almost child abuse. Does Billy Ray Bonehead Cyrus really want the papparazi following his 9yr old around snappin pictures of her, harrassing her? I know if I had kids, particularly daughters, they wouldn't dress like that at 9yrs old, and they damn sure wouldn't be wearing make up! I know I'm only 34 yrs old, but my view(s) seems to be alot stricter then a vast segment of the parental population seems to be these days, and I don't even have kids. I mean, JFC, like Reaper said, let the kid(s) be kids!
jynxxxedangel
I couldn't believe some of the little girls' costumes they were selling at Walmart, this year. They were nearly exact copies of the big girls' costumes, but scaled down. I would NEVER let my kid go out, dressed like that.
Onyx
I don't like it at all. Just inappropriate and seems to me it makes a child pedophile bait. That video clip was really sad too, having little kids mix alcoholic drinks behind a bar and a 9 year old on a stripper pole! WTF? At least her dad realized it wasn't appropriate but how could any mother think that is okay for a 9 year old child? Adult things belong to adults. Nightgaunt
I first noticed this last year at Halloween USA. I couldn't believe the kinds of costumes that were being marketed to little girls. I'm actually finding it hard to think straight about this after seeing that picture of Noah Cyrus; it almost makes me weep. It's as if there's a concerted effort to wipe out any trace of innocence from our culture.
Fidget(+)
Well from my knowledge most of the girls I know start being sexual around the age of 15. So perhaps when there 16 it would be ok for them to dress a bit more the way they would like only because they will anyway. But 9 is defiantly to young, there are some costumes I see for young girls and I feel so ashamed of society.

the eternal
Amen. Let kids be kids for as long as possible. These costumes are ridiculous. Hey, kids are kids for 364 days. On Halloween, I say let kids be vampires and zombies and witches. As for dressing like a whore, I didn't know there was an appropriate holiday for that for any age Except maybe Spring Break?? Congressional Recess? Altar Boy Appreciation Day?
LittleMissLuckyCunt (1)
Amen. Let kids be kids for as long as possible. These costumes are ridiculous. Agreed 150% 9 is WAY too young to be dressing like that. I think even 15 is way too young to be dressing like that. My mom always told me your only a kid for so long so enjoy it while it lasts. I personally would never let my kid dress like that. What happened to wanting to be a ghost or cat or something for halloween?
