TheOsakaKoneko
Fall 2009 I'm a little late to the party on this one, but I deemed it worth posting about anyway in case any of you have missed this collection. Anyone who loves Alexander McQueen has probably already seen it. Anyone who has not seen it should, and I'm guessing there aren't a lot of people on the board who check the runways, so here you go. Damn. I meant to only post my favorites, and I posted almost the whole collection. Anyway, damn, right? Damn. I believe he may have overstepped Vivienne to the role of my new favorite designer. (Blasphemy!!) The theme of the above show was recycling, and both objects (coke cans, saran wrap, lampshades) and ideas (the Dior silhouette, other ideas from earlier in his career) were recycled in this show. But to me it screams elegant OTT goth - not only in the obvious black vinyl and stark makeup, but also in the recycled theme, since the best gothic fashion often is hand-selected and made from found items and clothing articles used in ways very contrary to their original purposes (a reminder always of goth's punk roots). Oh, and also in its otherworldly-ness, but that's a standard in any McQueen collection. Spring 2010 This premiered just last week, so I'm not so late posting about it. Nonetheless, many of you have probably seen it or items from it, even if you didn't realize so at the time, in Lady Gaga's newest video (LUST!). The theme to this one was post-apocalyptic sea creatures and monsters. And shoes. Well, not really, but who could really deny that the main focus of this show was the SHOES? Glorious, glorious shoes. And the reason y'all might have seen them? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ACm9yECwSso I'm not even a Gaga fan but this video definitely makes me go "Gaga oolala"! jynxxxedangel
Wow. Beautiful craftsmanship, and beautiful artistic vision. This is the result, when every aspect of the design is planned out carefully, before construction; and when quality materials are used. I'm not normally a fan of impracticality, but when it comes to impossibly-impractical fetish shoes...I am guilty. I would DIE for those bio-mechanical platforms. *drools* The only thing I don't like, is the "leech" lipstick on the models, in this year's collection. I would die for a pair of either of the styles, either the tentacle goodness and more wearable style of the pumps I think you're referring to (in purple please!!), OR the never-been-seen-before make-you-think-you're-seeing-things ballerina style hooves (hell, any of them, love the monster print ones, also the disco ball bubble ones). TheOsakaKoneko
I <3 fishtail skirts! That was awesomeness. This one? You MUST see it in action. I've never seen a fishtail skirt move quite like this one when walking. Look it up on YouTube - it's incredible (and lustworthy, and inspiration, and makes me want to try to make one). EDIT: Actually, watch here: At 2:08. Edited November 18, 2009 by TheOsakaKoneko

Msterbeau
And...in the first group...their lips scare me. Yeah.. I love much of the Alexander McQueen stuff but the Mr. Bill lips are not doing a thing for me.
BloodCupcake
You would HAVE to know how to walk in fetish shoes to get into those. I'm baffled as to how they even got their feet in some of those. The lips in the first group scaaaare me. I liked some of it though.

I'm fairly certain that they'd fit/wear/walk the same as any other pair of 10" stiletto pumps. In that the inside of the shoe allows your toes to rest just the same as they would in any other pair. You'd still have to balance on a 10" stiletto, but as far as how your foot moved, it would be the same. So still requires a certain amount of skill and finesse. KatRN05
I love these but I couldn't imagine walking in them. I can hardly wear heels over 4 inches.

TygerLili
The fall collection would be perfect if you could cut off their heads. Beautiful clothes, hideous make-up and "hats." I like all of the silver and blue in the spring collection. I get tired of everything being black.
pomba gira
Sweeeet... love the first one, the black & red striped one, and the Escher-style bird prints. Gotta agree with Jynxxxie on the lipstick tho, it's uncomfortably close to a minstrel-show look. Spring collection, meh, can't get past the makeup and hair which are all just plain ugly. Not to mention the models look like poster children for eating disorders. The shoes are just silly, except for the Giger ones which are hellaciously groovy. I knew that bloody-awful lipstick reminded me of something not-so-good, I just couldn't place it! The "foothugger" shoes are awesome. WANTS. In the chrome, please. I still don't like it, though. ...no, I think, it is a jump back to Robert Smith...to go with the black. ...um...someone shoot the make-up artist.
