"The failure to identify a control group should probably tell us something: This is little more than a press release on some research in progress. Still, even before the results are in, the process of setting up the experiment turned out to be rather informative. The study, you see, is on porn consumption, and it looks like the researchers will be stuck working without anybody to act as a negative control. "We started our research seeking men in their twenties who had never consumed pornography," said Simon Louis Lajeunesse. "We couldn't find any.""

Oh common. Mormons...Amish...there has to be some unpornverted men in this country someplace???

I am showing this to my friend who is a bit prudish...she thinks her man doesn't look at porn at that it distroys marriges...

If your man says he doesn't look at porn, your giving him too much grief over it. Thats when the lies start.

why I feel so sorry for young women coming of age these days...

Not disagreeing but.... what do you mean?

You feel sorry for them because the men in their lives look at porn? Or you feel sorry for them because they have the expectation that their men won't look at porn.?

I think she ment in away that when young men get consumed in porn they then think that thats how young ladys act or are to be treated depending on what type of porn they are watching. And may not learn how to truly treat a lady. It is kinda dissapointing cause most(NOT ALL) really dont know that its about pleaseing each other and not just one side.

im just taking a stabb in the dark.... :p

^ That and if young women think that all men look at porn, these young women (especially the ones with issues) may feel that they need to look like and act like the women in porn in order to satisfy their mate. Additionally, these young women may end up comparing themselves to the women in porn, feel that they don't measure up, and end up suffering from low self-esteem.

Then, if a young women did not feel that she acted or looked like the women in porn, she could end up suffering from low self-esteem.

Of course that is not limited to porn.... I would expand that to include media in general.... (not that there is anything WRONG with a woman acting like a porn star with someone... as long as she knows that it is her choice to do so, and not an expectation...)

This is true, but for some women, porn fucks with their self esteem so much more than the media ever could.

The funny thing about porn (video) is that I decided some time ago that mimicking them leads to really unsatisfactory sex and I avoid (most) women who look like porn stars at all costs. I think maybe it takes a while to realize that, and it won't likely happen for everyone. :no

I think the comment about media in general is spot on. It's all leading to a general warping of standards and what is acceptable. The curious thing for me is why so many people are focused on beauty in the first place, when there are certainly a lot of other practical criteria that matter far more when it comes to selecting a mate. I think there's an underlying need for beauty to some degree that's a very primal instinct for us.

Neither. Closer to LilyLu29 and Beanie's comments. Most porn has absolutely nothing to do with what female sexuality is really like, so all these young guys have deeply unrealistic ideas of what women are "supposed to" enjoy. And, for that matter, sometimes of what THEY are supposed to enjoy. I think watching porn before you actually start having sex, which seems to be the norm nowadays, makes a huge difference. And it really is noticeable in guys under 30... it's very obvious that they've come of age watching shitloads of male-produced porn. And yeah, Beanie, you see a lot of younger women doing obvious porn moves at Lifestyle events, but very rarely over 30s. So both men and women have those unrealistic expectations.
