The Christmas Day Undies Bomber...

Recommended Posts

...well, if he ain't FROM HERE...it is a breach of the Geneva thingy...as, THEY, are waring, & out of uniform...no rights...he's a P.O.W., & those, are all the rights he gets, he sits in a cell, till Kingdom-come...that's how I understand the situation..not, that that;s what the bleeding-hearts will do...but, it is what I see as right.

He was arrested by a civilian force as a foreign national committing a crime. If my memory serves about the Geneva Conventions in the civilian arena outside of spies (who have very few rights at all if caught,) I believe, (and someone check me on this,) the fact he was arrested by civilian law enforcement (not a military force,) in US airspace/territory makes him subject to our laws and rights (link to General Article 3 summary decisions of the Conventions.) Please note the line "requires that punitive sentences and executions (i.e., criminal punishments) be pronounced only by a 'regularly constituted court' that 'afford all the judicial guarantees … recognized as indispensable by civilized peoples.'” The decision in 2006 was in response to Guantanamo Bay and Abu Gharib.

That being said, gut reaction is to lock him up in the SuperMax. The list of federal executable offenses is here. Terrorism is not one of executable crimes, unless death is involved (and for the sake of the rest of the people on the plane, I am glad that didn't happen.)

Ah yes.. The Fruit of Ka BOOM! bomber.

Hopefully he will be prosecuted and given appropriate punishment.

I hope our judicial system can handle that.

You have no ideal how excruciatingly funny that was, did you?

Allow me to expound upon the OBVIOUSLY HILARIOUS pun afore stated...

Ka...is an old Egyptian word, it is Spirit...like a Soul.

This guy, was a terrorist, Al Queda, or some of their pals...'holy warriors' = 'souljahs'...

...anyways...that's fucked up Stormy...I hope some inmates get him.

He should die.

He wanted to die...& kill a bunch of us with him...he should die.

...& I, value human life; very, very much; & he tried to kill...& in a manner full of subterfuge...they are not fighting above the board...we should stop being 'bigger'; & just get the fuckin' job done.

<excuse my rant>

i fully agree with Rev. the man wanted to die...why not grant him his wish? execute him...i was watching the news early this morning around 7am today was his arraignment, they said he is obviously going to go to trail...and if if he dose get convicted which i'm guessing is a 100% guarantee just off the top of my head...he will serve no less then life in prison...which i'm guessing he wont last long in Detroit prison

See, the problem is that it doesn't make sense to give him what he wants because then it isn't punishment. Suppose the crime for shop lifting is a BJ from Neve Campbell. I'd be walking out of every store in the country with some merchandise because the punishment would never work on me.

Now I understand that if someone dies they can't commit a crime...however, if the enemy believes that they'll die a martyr either way it gives them more incentive to attack the "great satan"

'regularly constituted court'

Well, thats vague enough. Military courts are regularly constituted courts. Tribunals are where the contention starts.

but.. they should not be in court. We need to follow the Geneva Convention. He (the accused in this case) we attempting to perfom a military attack against out nation. He was going after a "soft target" to break our will (cause terror and fear). He was not in a uniform. He was caught int he act. By the Geneva concention... he is to be handed over to the Military and executed without trial. Thats what the Convention says. Bush classified them (the terrorist) as "Enemy Combatants" so we didn't have to just put a bullet in everyone's head we caught and could question them.
