Fyrliin Feuer
Hey fellow Rennie's just wondering if there are some in here, and if we could talk about your experiences from the Renaissance faires. My Rennie Character. My Name is Lillian Morgan McCay, I am engaged to the Second in Command of the Entertaining Group, The Yeoman, Rodrick McKloud. I use to be a Furry, known as Vixen, the Mage Foxen, but due to my boyfriends proposal of making me one of the Ladies of the Yeoman, I had to give it up, and be human lol. Msterbeau
Lots of attendees here and a few full on Rennies. I'm in the former group. I tend to be a bit of a rogue whatever... Most would say troublemaker.

n0Mad
I did street at the Michigan Renaissance Festival in '97 and '98 and introduced a few bits that were groundbreaking at the time but are now old hat. Throughout most of the '00s I trained a lot of actors and combatants for both MIRF and SLRF, choreographed some fights, and scripted some bits, but didn't actively participate myself. In 2008 I had a stage show at the Silverleaf Renaissance Faire. That was fun but a lot of hard work. I have a couple faires asking for me this year but unfortunately I don't think I'll be able to do them. So, yeah ... I've got a lot of RenFest experience but no, I'm not really a Rennie. It's a gig, a fun and sometimes well paid gig, but not my life. Edited January 24, 2010 by Spook

Have you been to the Mayfaire in Marshall, and if you have, did you by some chance see a girl with Black Fox ears, and maybe bat wings? Not the best photo of me, but that is one of my costumes, lol, and my boyfriend.

Lilly420
Not your typical Rennie geek, but I enjoyed going and working there for a while. I try to make it out at least once a year, but it's not like it used to be, unfortunately. Had a bit of bad experience when I joined a certain acting group that used to work there, hasn't really been the same since. Too many are in it for the money instead of the experience anymore. n0Mad
Too many are in it for the money instead of the experience anymore. I've seen that, but I've seen it go the other way too. RenFests are a great place for green entertainers to work on their craft and develop some great experience. I have seen far too many newbies jump right in and think they should be getting paid big bucks when that is not the case. On the other hand, I've also seen exceptional entertainers with decades of experience who deserve big bucks only offered paltry sums. There is room for both at a RenFaire if it's well managed, but all too often I've seen new actors treat management like crap thinking they deserve more money and recognition when really they don't, and I've seen management lose wonderful acts because they won't pay them what they're worth. Homicidalheathen
Welcome aboard! Just wondered where the term ren 'geek' comes from I dont see anything geeky about it I suppose it takes knowledge to dress the part correctly or have enough talent to perform in it...is that geeky? Now those Sci Fi conventions...THATS geeky. Hands down.

I worked in Silver Leaf when I was 7, But things changed, and it became more of a Flee market faire you could say. But this year, My friend says they are trying to get the Rennie family thing back. I am waiting a year or two before I go back for sure. But hey its just a hope. Sometimes they always dont work out as planned.

A friend of mine also used to work at one of the henna booths with her mother, but now they own a clothing shop that sells gypsy clothing.
