Airport body scans defy Islamic law?

I'm not a fan of some of the TSA's heavy handed tactics, but a person's faith does not precede my security. Don't like it, don't fly. I'll be curious to see if they're OK with the optional body searches by a member of the same gender.

agreed. safety first.

Also... they do have the option to submit to a full body search in place of the screening. I don't see how they'll find that any less objectionable, though.

Yeah, personally, I'd rather have a computer pic of me than a full body search. But, I guess as long as they are searched by the same sex it's better?

I seem to remember someone qouting Franklin in simular situations. I don't have the qoute handy though... Perhaps you can help me out Marc. It was something about giving up freedom in name of security... can't remember how it goes. I'm pretty sure you know what qoute I am trying to remember.

I'm quite sure you remember the quote exactly and you're being an ass about it. Are you suggesting then, that we should not have body scans at all, or that anyone that objects for religious or other reasons that are afforded freedom under the constitution shouldn't have to go through them? Franklin's words hold a powerful truth, but that doesn't mean people should expect to apply them to every possible situation where a freedom is being impinged by a restriction for security purposes. That's simplistic at best.

Please keep it civil... thanks....

I am suggesting that flying is not a right. They can either be scanned, searched or find another way to get where they are going. We can't just toss out the Constitution because you don't like Islam.

I would totally agree with this. You could have just stated it this way in the first place. I don't dislike Islam any more then I dislike Christianity, which is to say, I don't care for either. I do dislike the idea that religious and political fanatics find hijacking airplanes appealing.

I know that this is a a very gross generalization.... BUT.... Is there really that much in modern societies rules that is NOT against Islamic Law in a literal sense?

..some...& some of the Islamic Law is against the Law of the Land.

Correction inserted, I'ld agree, that there is MUCH incongruousness between them...just like the Amish, & their 'backwards-brethren' ( :respect: )...just, something in the different doctrines they follow, make one group want to feed us good foods, & make bad assed furnitures; & the other group want to blow us up.

This Law doesn't seem to affect the Amish & such... ;) I think it's great!
