OH HELLZ YEAH!!! Drags and racecars :respect:

Ya know we should really start an autos/transportation section on this board. Post stuff about car shows, rides, races, etc...

I should also post my spring/summer/fall schedule for the good car shows in the area.

I second that call for a auto board.... Thanks to my love of going fast on 2 or 4 wheels I know my demise is going to involve skid marks, a guard rail and fire.

a friend turned me onto this a few days ago; check it out! The Detroit Velodrome (Outer Drive at Mound) closed down in 1989 or thereabouts. Seems that some guys have been patching it up as best they can and having minibike and scooter races there the past couple of years. :D

there's plenty of Thunderdrome vids to keep you going all the way to next spring; here's one to get you started:

Swear I mentioned Velodrome somewhere before. Oh well, nice to see it mentioned again.

Attended this years Thunderdrome event, which was a hell of a lot of fun.

One of the cooler things going on in Detroit for sure.

the friend who told me about Thunderdrome has been restoring 2 or 3 '70s-era minibikes. some other friend of his told him about Thunderdrome when he saw the work in progress. My friend intends to race there next year; one of the minis (a Ruppman!) is pretty much track-ready right now.

:D

BMW bringing the crazy cool:

Looks a lot like a R/C off-road car brought up to real life size. (not meant in a negative way, you can do a lot with miniature cars that is hard to get away with cars that need to actually transport a human, so the design is often limited in a way that is not for R/C cars)

...unfortunately, Jeep never saw fit to unleash this on us. They built this 3 years ago, and - believe it or not - it's built on a standard Wrangler platform. The driver's seat on this is directly above where the battery is under the hood of a Wrangler.
