VAMPIRE THE REQUIEM LARP GAME STARTING SOON

Recommended Posts

Our first game will be officially on the 24th at CC during the Masquerade ball. This is not a Collective event though many will be involved. Our intention is to create a very large weekly event on Fridays and Saturdays held all over the city depending on the players. We will provide a set of guidelines and structure of course but the game will evolve itself. As of now, we have a story teller, Prince/temporary story teller (these two will design the initial games, and 5 primogen or clan leaders. We also have several other people interested. Here are some of the key points for the game:

1. We wanted to eliminate the rock, paper, scissors crap as well as dice and cards. We will be using cell phones with online die generators to deal with challenges.

2. We will have an interactive web site that will list game rules, a forum for gameplay only, an introduction to the game, clan explanations, a newspaper called "the daily splatter" that will feature rumors and or current quests or challenges for the players, and much more

3. There will be no weapons props, rather, cards with weapons, disciplines, etc on them. We will also have a currency system (blood money) for the purchasing of things within the game

4. Because there is so much involved with the setting up and designing of the game, web site, etc, we will charge a monthly membership fee of $10 for the month or if you choose not to play every game a $5 per game fee.

5. Since we are starting the game so soon, if you are interested, please email me as to meeting and creating your character to play the game. Each person will be pre screened to make sure they're mentally stable and all. After all, it is just a game.

6. We will also eventually feature in the game lupines, zombies, mages, and a host of other characters.

7. We will also be setting up parties all around the Metro area for not just the game but just for something to do this summer. People will be playing the game all around you and most people will not even know that others are playing, discretion for the vampires and all.

8. It will also not be a game were everyone is just standing around talking; there will also be scavenger hunts around the city, mysteries to be solved, etc.

9. Some people have said, but I have never played this sort of thing before. So much the better. Most of the people playing have little to no experiences. It might be easier for newbies due to some larpers are set in their own ways and all.

10. We will not tolerate any kind of real time harassment of our players, cheating, etc.

11. There will be no vampires that sparkle in this game:) These are malicious, back stabbing, think 30 days of night vampires, plotting against one another, forming alliances, creating allies, buying up property in Detroit, and building their clans up to hold more power and control.

So much more.

Now, if you're interested, please email me asap as this is the only time we will hold a public invitation to play the game. After this, the game will go on with invites only. We want the vampires to be exclusive and elitist. After all, so many people fantasize about being vampires, here is your chance. The story teller will hold onto character sheets. Eventually, we will all have an online interactive sheet that only the player and story teller may see. It will held every Fri-Sat when the sun goes down to 4am :)

I will meet with interested people not this Friday, but the following Friday the 16th at Clocks in Hammtramick to answer questions, create characters, and in general meet. I will be there from 7pm to 10pm which should give a decent window of time to come in, make your character, and then leave. If you cant make it to Clocks, I can meet Saturday the 17th at Borders books in Southland Mall in Taylor to deal with all of this. You will pay your initial game fee once you create your character. Here is a link to an online pdf database for the rulebook for more understanding of the game: http://manwe.elfove.cz/~olaf/pub/vampire/Vampire%20the%20Requiem.pdf I hope this helps

Remember, this is something different to do this summer. We hope the game really takes off and provides countless hours of entertainment for all. Until the web site is officially up and running which should be by summer, we will set up a yahoo groups site to deal with game logistics.

Email me before this Saturday and or talk to me down at CC this Friday night about the game. I will be there after 11pm.

See you soon!

EEEEEEEEEEWWWWWWW NEW SYSTEM!?!?!

Me and spook will run around as old system character instead, k?

I'm not against the new system per se. What I've seen of the rules (table top), I really like the changes. As for the meta-plot, setting, and all the other changes, I still don't know what I think about those. It's far more open ended and has a lot of options and flexibility. If the new system was my first exposure to the game, then I would probably love it. However, I have invested sooo much time and money in the old system that the changes really are frustrating. Everything I've come to know and love is gone and it's really disheartening. I don't have the time or money to invest in the new system. Someday I might but by then they'll probably change it again.

As for the LARP, sounds interesting but I'll have to pass. Time and money are issues. I just finished grad school and I'm getting married soon so my efforts are focused on job hunting, family planning, etc.

PS - Long live Wraith!

There are only like 3 things from new system I actually like (I like what they did to health levels for one). Everything else just makes me mad.

Yay Wraith and Changeling.
