emmymau
I post writing challenges at my fiction site, and this month's has just kicked off. There are plenty of creative folks here, so I thought I'd open it up to DGN's community as well. Feel free to pass this on to anyone else who might be interested. Based on the sentence below, write a story of anywhere between 500-5000 words. Genre, etc. are wide open. Using the sentence in the story itself is a plus, but not necessary. Meaningless bonus points are added if it's the first sentence: "As the door to the ice cream parlor burst open, I briefly considered the naked intern on the table in front of me and guessed that the agreement was probably off." The best five submissions (+1 if something's too cool to leave out) will be published at Looking for Strange, with attribution and links to your website if you'd like. If I had the funds, I'd offer awesome cash and prizes, but for now, momentary minor Internet fame will have to do. I now have the technology to include images as well, for any artistically-minded contributors! Submissions are due 5/1/2010, and can be sent to me at emmy (at) elepent (dot) com. Don't post stories in replies here at DGN; that gets into really flaky copyright territory and I won't be able to put them on my site. All submissions remain the property of the creators. Anybody want to play? I look forward to seeing what folks come up with.

torn asunder
i have the beginnings of two short stories written, but i have zero imagination as far as plot twists, and interesting happenings go. if i were to finish them, there would be a massive cry of "that's it!?" every time someone finished reading them!
