Personally, I didnt care for most of the stuff. I noticed like two songs, and knew two. And everything else seemed so fast to dance too.

I think that the music should just be blended in to a regular week instead of having its own separate week.

Void got some boobie flashage for the Stromkern song

DAMNIT...that's what I have to do to get my requests played?

I was an asshole and requested Lady Gaga out of drunkness. It was actually because I went up to the request sheet and saw someone already wrote it in really girly handwriting. I honestly didn't think they'd do it

*hands over goth card*

I heard several things I liked. Unfortunately, since just about everything was unfamiliar, it's impossible to pick out which ones they were, beyond saying, "I heard two really awesome songs between midnight and one-thirty."

Perhaps next time, y'all could find a way to post a "NOW PLAYING" sign? That way we can request the new stuff that we like on "regular" nights.

That, or find a way to let us dancing types vote on what we wanna hear put into regular rotation. If each "Progressive" night resulted in two or three new songs joining the regular lineup, that would be kind of cool.

I think that would be pretty kool. Just have a white board and write it all down... ;) lol.

Great idea! There's got to be some type of LED display that you could plug into a computer via USB or something. Just gotta figure out what they are exactly called. We usually type the playlist up into a laptop anyways... might be able to multitask.

Will have to investigate further...

I'm happy that my request actually got played. Usually anything I request is ommitted from the entire nights lineup *sigh*

And oddly enough about 10 mintues after I requested it, it was played. =D

Chernobyl, you know that you loved the Lady Gaga :)

f0rged, what song did you request?

I liked a few songs I didn't know before...though I have a feeling it was probably the DeVision and Edge of Dawn, etc. XD

I will have to look some of these up though. :)

I noticed there were way more songs I knew than I expected, esp in the 1:30 set. XD Not a good thing or a bad thing, just sayin. :) I got to dance.

I didn't actually get to hear too much of the music because my sister was there and very...inebriated...yes. ><

I love how even on Progression I got to hear Chemicals shortly after hitting the floor - ultimate win. God I love that song.

Overall from what I did hear, good job guys! It was fun.

Yes yes...I did *runs*. Not saying that I DON'T like Lady Gaga, my <3 for Gaga is my dirty little not-so-secret. For a pop artist, what she writes (at least the subject matter, not the sound itself) and her visuals are "gothish". I was just one of those people who at first was all ranting about how inappropriate the song is when played at CC...BUT...I guess we need ONE staple "joke song". Sooo...it can stay. You guys start playing Britney Spears though and I'm out .

Watch out, they'll start calling you a hypocrite for admitting that Gaga can be fun to dance to.

Thanks for the good words. Chemicals+Circuitry is still fairly new and will probably continue to see a lot of play until Grendals new CD is released.

The De\Vision is ok, DJ Aaron got me to play that one. That entire new Edge of Dawn is such an amazing CD. Looking forward to playing more of that.

And there's also a Brendon Perry (Dead Can Dance) song that I wanted to play and forgot. Have a feeling you'd dig that one if you heard it.

Be well

I think introducing new music is a great idea but I must admit I didnt care for anything I heard.

Given time perhaps some new songs will grow on you. And well if not, maybe City can satisfy your niche on old school nights or something. The new stuff is different than what people are used to, I was even surprised when Void played a new KMFDM track. I had to inquire as to what it was and then I didn't believe it was KMFDM. First KMFDM song I've heard in years that sounds remarkably different from other KMFDM songs.

take it easy

Still waiting to hear my Diabolic Art remix though! Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeease?? :D:D:D

C+C only came out on NYE in Japan, probably not much earlier here, so it's kinda really new...or does 4 months not count as new anymore and is only "fairly new"? (The "" is because we all know my favorites are 30 years old T___T haha)

Saturday 4.10.10

:: Progression ::

New Music night

DJ's Void 6 and Saint

Love the new music, long overdue for City Club!!!! I have two constructive criticisms to put forth.

It was very hard to notice a change of music style between DJs. The sound, style seemed to continue from DJ to DJ Saturday. Just an opinion but I enjoy it dance wise when you know what to expect from set to set, that there may be a style change in BPMs/style, and sometimes when there isn't its easy to get discouraged.

And second when the DJ sets are so long its easy to get discouraged from dancing, an hour and a half or over an hour of one style of music can be alot especially if you are waiting for the changeover.

Overall love the new music, just a couple of constructive criticisms to try help bring CC forward. Thanks DJs for moving forward!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • ~~~~~ Yeah, thank you for the check-in.   Happy to say it was all a misunderstanding.  But she pulled out her "ghetto" and that's when things went South.  I get very professional minded when I enter into situations like that because when someone starts bring the court into conversations, I'm in court 2 times a year, every year, so don't go there with me because I will get legal all over you.   She did try to change what she thought she might have said, but I had to call her on it because it's all in written text.  Then she apologized and we were able to have a decent conversation.   I know I joke about me talking so much that people don't hear what I say except for keywords that they are looking for, but that is exactly what happened here.  She heard "payment", "money" and "help out".  It was crazy.  I literally had to have the entire conversation all over again, but I definitely condensed it to only address those 3 words.   Things are back on track, but I emphasized that if she every needed clarification for anything, please say something first instead of jumping to conclusions, then questioning that conclusion, then answering that conclusion, then getting upset at the answer and taking it out on someone who doesn't have a clue what the San Juan Hill just happened.   But this is exactly the reason I do everything with a paper trail.

    • I'm glad  that yesterday's day at work is long gone now. There was a very strong unusual energy that I felt, and couldn't get done with the day fast enough. It wasn't  the job at all. I just felt like I really needed to keep my mouth shut, to keep me from getting in situation(s) that probably wouldn't have ended well for me.
    • You can trust anyone you want.  The only question is whether or not they're deserving of that trust. No risk = no reward.  As such you have to let yourself be vulnerable sometimes and realize that all people will let you down eventually whether it's intentional or not.  The frequency that it happens is what's important.
    • Sorry, I don't check this as often as I should. Anyway document everything (although it sounds like @Trene4000already has been from her post.) It's okay to cry and break down, but not in front of them.  Never give them the satisfaction of seeing you crack.  If anything I'd go out of my way to piss them off, but I don't like being that guy either (and as such I'm not very good at it, except sometimes when I'm not intending to be.) I try to only help those whom deserve it, but that's often hard to judge.  Seeing how someone treats other people is a pretty good indicator of whether or not they're worthy.  Sociopathic narcissistic asshats are very much not worthy. I hope things are going well for you guys.
