Gizmodo A photo of the new iPhone posted by Gizmodo. A fourth generation iPhone walks into a bar ... and the joke's on Apple. Gizmodo, a gadget-happy tech blog, has posted photos of a never-before-seen 4th generation iPhone it claims was found in a bar in between Apple Headquarters and San Francisco—and they're convinced it's the real thing. According to specs released by the website, the Apple prototype, which they expect will be officially debuted this summer, has a front-facing video chat camera, an improved back camera with a flash, a higher resolution display and split buttons for volume. With its hard edges and curveless body, the new iPhone looks a lot more like its cousin, the iPad. It also has what appears to be a plastic back, instead of aluminum. Interestingly, the lost phone was camouflaged to look like its predecessor, the iPhone 3GS, with a curved, plastic cover. Gizmodo quotes an Apple insder as confirming the lost prototype: "So I called around, and I now believe this is an actual unit from Apple—a unit Apple is very interested in getting back." Msterbeau
So this is slowly turning into a criminal case against Gawker Media, Gizmodo and likely the guy that originally took/stole the prototype. Sad how some ill-informed people are deriding Apple on this as things proceed because they see them as fascists stepping on the little people. Sorry, but theft and receiving stolen goods, particularly a secret and expensive prototype, are crimes and both parties who handled the thing are pretty guilty. http://www.wired.com/threatlevel/2010/04/iphone-raid/ http://www.macworld.com/article/150851/2010/04/criminal_iphone_prototype.html Read the comments at the end of each story.
