Destroit
What I want to know is why the fuck does all of these types of incidents seemingly happen in NYC? You hardly ever hear this stuff coming out of other metropolitan areas, it's almost ALWAYS New York. I haven't even heard this kind of stuff out of cities with proportionately more crime such as our hometown of Detroit, DC, St. Louis. It's just and odd observation. candyman
I have just never like the people in NY and I think this is why. Every other city has a mix of people ranging from assholes to very nice people...NY just has a bunch of assholes that you can't understand... Rev.Reverence
Sad...I pray for him, a fast transference... NOW...I know for a fact that there are some VERY good peoples in NY...it would appear that none of them were AWAKE at 7-8 in the morning on a SUNDAY...let alone OUTSIDE...there was OBVIOUSLY, one good guy on the block at the moment...he got stabbed to death...you know... Don't go blaming the WHOLE city now... .....these things happen all over.....even in the D (especially in the D)...we just don't haves those cameras everywhere, & it gets written up as random shit...& you don't even hear about it... ..I think, it's 'cause, many don't care to much about what pains another... ...certainly, very few wish to get involved in some knife fight...they have places to go...they'ld be late if they had to file a police report. Ice Queen (1)
and the woman that owed this man her life, couldn't be bothered to call? I seem to recall a story this winter about the man left frozen in an abandoned building in Detroit that no one called in, and that was just one that happened to get a lot of press. There are plenty of things that happen that don't get any press. I've lived in the neighborhoods in LA, I've known my share of people in law enforcement, there is much that does not get press. I expect that is true for many metro areas.

AGREED. I think the reason why we hear about it in NYC so much, is there are more media outlets in NYC than anywhere else in the world. EDITED to add this--- From the article-The incident is reminiscent of the rape and murder of Kitty Genovese, also in Queens, in 1964. In that case, dozens of people witnessed some or all of the attack and yet no one did anything to stop it. Amazingly underrated and forgotten Bob Dylan-contemporary wrote this song for Kitty in the 60s I never do this but I'm posting a slowed down less tuneful cover, because I like the visuals Edited April 25, 2010 by the eternal

Soulrev
The general overall lack of care for one another in this day and age is appalling. I was driving down 94 one time and noticed an old man in a pickup broke down on the other side of the highway. I went to the next exit so I could turn around and go help the guy. When I got there the man was practically in tears because he had been sitting there for over an hour and nobody stopped. ALL HE WANTED WAS TO CALL AAA. That's it! People are either so fucking scared or so caught up in their own little worlds that nobody stops to help ANYONE anymore! It's not just on the roads, either. It's life in general. And that, my friends, is fucked up.

Very true! I visited NYC and I met some awesome folks (even tho I was sort of expecting the stereotypical "rude NewYorkers" I actually met only friendly interesting people). There is this type of thing, both good and bad, everywhere you go. I think it's true that in NY you just hear about it more from more media coverage. So very sad that nobody bothered to even try to help him. :( Edited April 27, 2010 by Onyx
Hellion
IMO it disgusts me how most of American society is apathetic and full of hate, what is even worse is how they condone it.most people suck.
