Aftermath, DGN Night at CC, June 12th

Recommended Posts

A smaller, lame group but I talked to Gimp(yes he was there for the night but already on to his next job in Tennesse). Tyger and Master Beau were there as well as Xilla Tpxic and Little Miss Lucky Cunt. Fin a bit wich was nice and saw Forge but didnt talk, as well as Riku.

Eh,there was still a good amount of people there. It' Summer so there's plenty else going on with the nice weather outside (BBQ's, wiener dog races, car shows...)

Saw many faces I haven't seen in a good while, many people dancing and having fun. I'd rather DJ for a crowd really into it, versus 600-700 who have no fucking clue...

like the time in Bloomington, IND... maybe 70-100 people at their weekly night I guest DJ'ed at, but mark my word every single one of those people danced like crazy, full of musical knowledge and were there for the music.

I also heart quality over quantity. One of my favorite nights DJ'ing was for 50 people at a martini bar for a trip hop/downtempo night. Every single person there was really into all of the artists being played, and a lot of great music discussion came out of it. Bigger is not always better, I've come to find ;) (I know I've set myself up or a joke or two here, But I'm gonna leave that.)

Anyways, I had a great time. Good music, good people, dancing, silliness, etc. And yes, the smoking charge has been repealed. So a lot of people are pretty excited about that. Plus: all of us DJ's were there on the same night. That's always fun :) See you guys next weekend.

Best part of the night was when Msterbeau ran two circles around the empty dance floor. :D

:cry

Bummer. You know I went to Necto last night due to the small crowds at CC and all the other BS. Plus like barely any of my friends are going now.

I had a really great time. But something felt off to my freinds and I. It was not until my girlfreind pointed it out to me this morning that i realized what it was.Eevee and Cowboy Dave apparently said the same thing.(Even though I did not see them there as it was PACKED.)

I was speaking with CowboyDave and he made the point that he believes he's "too old for Necto" and, honestly, I feel like I'm too old for Necto.

Us old timers gotta get CC back up and running again so were not left in the dust by the young ones. Lets pack this place next weekend! Fuck all the BS. Who cares about what state the building is in or who does what and why. Forget all that. What really matters is that we surround ourselves with the people and the music we so adore. WE (the club goers not the staff or DJs) need to fix this. Before there is nowhere left for us to go besides a college town (which is cool I just like CC better),

The DJ's are fixing the sound system. Elektrosonik and Hingst, with the help of Pulse State and Scary Guy have been in there making tweaks and the sound system is sounding MUCH better.

Sure the place/sound will never be perfect but there's a certain charm and appeal to City that no other club can emulate.

What really matters is that we surround ourselves with the people and the music we so adore.

Couldn't agree more with you there!

Hope to see you out this weekend

Be Well!

I could not agree more. It is however even better when you get to DJ for a packed dancefloor with 600- 700 people who ARE into it. I have been really fortunate at Necto to have an extremely open minded, dance oriented crowd. If you are going out to a club on a Monday night you are there because you love to dance and are dedicated to the scene your in. I have heard from numerous customers over the last year that they didn't go out on the weekend to save money for Monday's. It's great to see all the enthusiasm that the crowd brings every week. It's been a real privileged to have that kind of wonderful support.

Yup! I've been there twice during the week myself to help the guys out in any way I could, plus make little odds and ends repairs around the club. It's nice to have co-workers and friends who are willing to donate their free time with you to make things better <3 Looking forward t seeing everyone this weekend!

I can barely take any credit for I'm mechanically challenged. I can however hold a flashlight like nobody's business, and it appears I have a knack for being part of entertaining aftermath stories. :stuart: Scary Guy, Pulse State, and Hingst are doing a great job turning the sound system into something more promising, and I'm happy to help wherever I can. :unworthy:

That is an important skill to have. Not everyone can do that which is why they make those silly looking flashlights you can strap onto your head.

I have certain users blocked on here so I am certain I am missing out on the full-entertainment value (which is probably a good thing)... oh wells :)

The thread has been jacked for sure only 4 of the 19 posts have to do with the night. No drama from anyone involved from anyone that I can see. Although to be fair is was Saint who got the ball rolling on post #5 by musing about quality over quantity. A statement a few of the other DJ's commented upon and it was all over with after that. :) It was a good discussion I thought.

Since I've been name-dropped in this thread a couple of times :)...

I am very happy to see that our efforts with the sound system at LCC are not going unnoticed. We are still not out of the woods yet, but these things take time and a lot of effort.

Scary Guy has done a great job cleaning out the equipment and many other things that I'm forgetting at the moment, Aaron Hingst has helped us lift stuff and test things out, Kat has popped in there a couple of times to give the booth a much-needed cleaning and to listen to me curse up a storm while soldering speaker connections in free space, Elektrosonik has done a great job helping to move the amps apart so they don't overheat as easily; and finally, all of you who have given us your feedback on what still sucks with the whole thing have empowered us to do more with it and see just how good it can get.

It will be a great system once again; that much we can tell you!

It just seems you take any chance you can to try and hype up Necto...no matter is the thread has to do with it or not. I have yet to see any City Club DJs (or any other club DJs, period) do so in Necto threads.

Reading this just pisses me off. It shouldn't be the DJ's job to supply labor to fix a crap sound system. I can tolerate most of CC's faults but the sound system cutting out and having a variety of other issues is bullshit and tends to ruin an otherwise good night for me. Dear Mike. Fix this you cheap fuck.

Oh... and I was at CC for the first time in three months. Not a bad time, considering. And yes I ran around the dance floor. :sorcerer:

You can try and spin it that way but in this case if you start reading this thread from the beginning that is just not so. The 4th post was the first that started the topic off thread. It was made by Saint at 6:30 yesterday and was followed by 3 more posts from Nocker, Saint and Kat. Saint and Kat both discussed situations in where they respectively DJ'd in Bloomington Ind. and a Martini bar doing trip hop night. Neither having nothing to do with CC aftermath. By the time we get to post #11(my first one) the thread had gone off topic to the point that their were twice as many posts off topic then people actually posting about the the night of the 12th. In my post I agreed with what the other DJ's said, offered my own experience and I responded to a criticism that was posted about Necto in this thread. Which is more than justifiable. It wasn't until I made my first post that you decide to chime in complaining about Necto taking things off topic that is not how it plays out if you read. Reminds me of an old quote "never let the facts get in the way of a good story."
