TONS of new music news/releases

DJ Saint

Recommended Posts

A TON of new releases forthcoming. Sadly the new Skinny Puppy has been pushed back to November 2010 and the just released Front Line Assembly full-length is (IMO) an electronic TURD.

But there's plenty of other goodies on the horizon near and distant.

Read up (most info from press releases, news clips), discuss, purchase when out and enjoy.

SAM - BRAINWASHER

SAM is back! With their new album SAM set the bar higher and promise with "Brainwasher" that the dark clubs all over the world will quake again. Founded by the highly explosive duo Joel Meyer and Daniel Meyer, the industrial-project "SAM" has released two highly successful albums in 2006 and 2008 and have since established their reputation as an excellent live-act. Their uncompromising and powerful live performance provided them many shows both in Germany and abroad. In addition they supported giants of the electro scene like Combichrist, Agonoize or [:SITD:], and also played on known festivals like the Wave Gotik Treffen. No doubt, SAM have become an industrial-/electro-reference, that shouldn't be missing in any DJ case or at any ride with over 130 MPH on the freeway. In 2010, the long awaited third album "Brainwasher" will be released as a limited digipack. It contains 13 mindblowing tracks including the hit-single "Bull Fu*king Shit". The sound has noticeable developed and progressed. Now it rolls unstoppable like a steamroller, crushing everything on it's way. Groovy basslines, screaming synths, intelligent sampling and bloodcurling drumbeats have been and always will be the trademark of SAM.

Out July 9 2010

HOCICO - DOG EAT DOG, LIMITED MCD

“Dog Eat Dog”, the brand-new single from Mexican Hard-Electro-legend Hocico, shouter Erk Aicrag and sound wizard Racso Agroyam are as aggressive as never before. A catchy-as-hell hook line meets the most brutal vocal escapades and the hardest beats the duo has ever unleashed: a relentless aggro-fest with a distinctive hit-appeal.

The new single also contains four bass-laden remixes from Solitary Experiments, Aesthetic Perfection, Diabolic Art and Arsch Dolls as well as the exclusive b-side-smasher “Escape The Spell.” A massive appetizer for the upcoming album “Tiempos De Furia!” Note: This is a limited release and destined to be sold out fast. Please Order Fast! .

Ghost & Writer - Shipwrecks

Ghost&Writer, the musical lovechild of Frank M. Spinath (Seabound/Edge Of Dawn) and Jimmyjoe Snark III (The Weathermen) announce their first full-length album entitled "Shipwrecks". Stranded and battered electronic memorials of better days. And yet, so fresh it almost hurts. Mastered by Daniel B (front242) To be released Autumn 2010

Project Pitchfork - Continuum Ride

(Trisol Music Group)

„Dream, Tiresias!“ was only the beginning. A serious shot across the bow for all those who already saw PROJECT PITCHFORK heading for an early retirement. In 2010, Peter Spilles takes the gloves off and gets down to business: Little more than a year after the impressive comeback success, the Dark Electro pioneer prepares for the mightiest strike so far. Seemingly out of nothing, PROJECT PITCHFORK fire “Continuum Ride” out of their orbit, an album even a genius like Spilles was unlikely to make. Hold tight when the living Electro legend takes off to a wild ride through the space-time continuum, to a journey through the cosmos of their own past, present and future. Instead of relying on old habits and the reverse gear, the oiled Pitchfork machine even shifts up a gear or two and refines the unique sound of their early masterpieces with a surprisingly modern diversity of ideas and a talent for big emotions that will transform every fervent worshipper of the pre “Timekiller” era into sheer rapture. Tears of joy guaranteed. Behind the stainless and admirable atmospheric production, “Continuum Ride” offers shelter for tormented souls and a hideaway for all those plagued by soulless Electro commandos. “Beholder” with these smartly marching beats and its synth virtuosity, the hypnotizing hookline in “Dead Cities”, a gripping salute to their own past, or the monumental “Way Of The World” which will be defining a whole scene from now on: This infernally intense Electro trip makes you instantly forget time and space. A Dark Electro release that is more monumental, more epic and more atmospheric is impossible to imagine.

Aw, I liked my Project Pitchfork best post-Timekiller, but I seem to be lonely in that. I'm disappointed that the new FLA is reported to be no good: I was hoping for a lot of fun with the Al J duet.

No Das Ich news?

The AL J track "Stupidity" on the FLA disc is just that. If you liked Hard-Wired or Millenium from Front Line than the new CD I'd predict you would like. It's just very metal sounding...

The Das Ich release Koma was scheduled for this month, but now has been pushed back to August 13!!! Looks like there will now be a box set as well with t-shirt, button, extra swag...

Really looking forward to that release, but geez it seems to be plagued with release problems...

New Pitchfork should be perfection as there last one was just near perfection... tat bands got such a great catalog of music.

Be well!

Indeed, thank you... thats a big beefy bit of news and i am glad to hear a new projected release date for that skinny puppy album, however i think i'm going to reserve judgement on the new FLA until i get to hear the whole thing myself... i was also hoping for it to be a good record but anythings possible.

  • 2 weeks later...

Marc, is there anywhere locally that an old dog like me buy this stuff? I'm an old Absolute Music customer. Still have some of the hand-written stickers on my CD cases. :jamin

Not so much locally any longer. You might be able to unearth some things from time to time at Dearborn Music, Encore in Ann Arbor or Street Corner Music, but the days of good record stores are long gone. Heh- I used to work at Absolute Music (and Harmony House Berkley and Blitz Records). I do most of my shopping online these days. Fixt music store at www.fixtstore.com offers a lot via digital download

and then for actual product;

Music non stop - http://www.musicnonstop.co.uk (UK based, always helpful and knowledgeable with excellent selection)

Storming the base - http://www.stormingthebase.com (from canada but often times have imports in stock quickly)

DDT - http://www.copint.com/onlinestore.asp?pagetype=featured (very cheap and fast delivery)

I need to open a record store...

Cheers

Yeah, i really miss the days of being able to walk into a good record store and buy stuff like this. Magnolia Thunderpussy in columbus ohio was always a good spot but i aint lived there in years, and last times i passed thru they had cut back their stock of industrial, electro, and goth music quite a bit.

i still prefer to go into a store and buy stuff, but it just cant be done most places nowadays, i wish someone would open up a bad-ass and diverse record shop, i'd go to it.

Thanks for the links. I'll check them out.

You definitely need to open a record store. Neptune in Royal Oak was okay for a while but they disappeared too.

I used to work at the Media Play right across the street from Absolute. I remember you. Still have some issues of "In Perpetual Motion" around here somewhere. Any idea what ever happened to Dean that used to work at Absolute and then Record Time?

Hmmmmmmmm

Record Time in Roseville Mi don't carry anything good?

D

Their industrial section is pretty small but probably as good as it gets in this area. Once in a while you'll find some good used stuff in there especially.
