DJ Nocker
I was agreeing with you... that often people who are bullying you are under a lot of pressure from other bullies as well... Ahh, well at least we agree on that (and most movies)
phee
Ahh, well at least we agree on that (and most movies) Yes... we could pull off a nearly endless film fest as well as nearly endless argument right after said film fest about the very few movies (and music) we disagree on. Rev.Reverence
Going to work and just doing the job, avoidance of the bully, especially a manager/higher just above you just. Doesn't. Work. Example: You have to request an item or data from the bully/boss to get your job done. No way around it. Said bully/boss refuses because he just plain doesn't like you, for whatever reason. Can't get your job done. When the ones above him call him out on why your project isn't done, he can come up with a variety of things to say, and back up (whether it is true or not (bully/boss could respond "I didn't get the request from him until past the due date," when you had it to him weeks prior.)) A bully/boss just doesn't make your life at work hell, but can end up firing you or getting you fired, saying in a passive-aggressive manner, "It isn't personal. It's just business.") They can also make you look bad for other businesses by sending bad letter or call to potential employers to tell you what a bad egg you are. And he will make himself look good in the process, costing you time, money, and a job. Been there when I did administrative temp work. Saw it happen in BOTH civilian businesses and federal/military offices, as well as in the hospital. It happens, and there is no way to avoid it when it does, regardless of how much you lower your profile. It is called real life, real business, working with real people. And why should you be the victim of a bully? It rarely ends, until an outside intervention or retaliation. In a school environment, you may be able to punch back when a bully hits you and it costs you some time in detention. In business and jobs, the punch back is more than likely going to get you arrested, jailed, blacklisted, or a variety of ways to end your career. Problem with a bully, is the bully's internal problem...they project..that is all...they hate themselves & so see themselves in everyone/thing. When in the adult world, work, what have you...we have special dudes called Lawyers, to do the 'punching' for us...you STILL have to punch back

Hellion
Right on Reaper! I'll say this I've known a few close friends that dealt with workplace intimidation/bullying.they took their cases to court. There is no excuse to treat someone like shit for no reason, some of these asshole bosses/managers either have a power trip, mental issues,or family issues that need to be kept out of the workplace at all times, let alone they should not be allowed that position in the first place. One thing I do hate is arrogance and belligerance, and anyone who condones it as well. Too many people think it's the way Americans should be,fuck that. Btw treating good employees like shit for no reason is bad business. And can lead to work place violence. Good management equals good employees, though there are the few employees that can be dipishits. I just get sick and tired of the good employees not getting the recognition they deserve in the workplace. Edited July 22, 2010 by Hellion
