DJ Nocker
Finally, after 10 years of waiting, one of the most anticipated games in history releases tonight. I know I have made several threads about it, but this will probably be the last one (at least till the expansions come out). Because at 12:01 AM, I will have the game and probably wont leave my house for a while, lol. I hope there are a few people on this site that are excited to play. I know Mean_Sally and I will get to play together finally. For those of you that have no idea what im on about, here is the newest trailer for the game. In my opinion, the trailer is like a movie and could peak anyone's interest. killyosaur
I know! watching the trailer is more like watching a movie trailer than a game trailer. And that's what I love about Blizzard. They really put a lot of thought and effort into everything they do. It is also the reason I wish that the proposed WoW movie was going to be a 3-D animated affair done by Blizzard, they would do awesome work. Yea...it would be pretty sweet, I would see it, even though I dont like WoW

Troy Spiral (13)
Never saw that particular trailer before (been off the SC2 trail for a bit) pretty good. I remember itching for this game for ages and ages, its been so long my excitement has died down alot. Probably partly due to the whole been-playing-the-beta-for-months thing. I'm still glad its finally out, but DAMN talk about a long wait. I thought the lag time between the first WoW Hype starting and the actual release was insane, but this has been eons. There were pre-orders available years ago (not that that is blizzards fault). I remember making threads about this on the OLD version of DGN which means... er... 6(?) years ago. Its a very, very similar game. Not nearly the difference between say Diablo and Diablo II or Warcraft II and III. 10 years later and its the same game with changed details / updated (although still dated as is the norm with blizzard games) graphics. Not that I care that much about graphics. After the first hour graphics are somewhat irrelevant as long as you can see the necessary details. Unfortunately, for some odd reason even with the years behind the current tech graphics of SC2, on my newish computer it runs a bit laggy. Messed with the settings for over a month to no avail. Its playable, but for what it is, it should be running silky smooth. /sniffles. I don't have the actual "real game" as yet, but I'm not expecting much difference between the beta and the final other than the video intro. What blizzard is good at is game "polish" and giving people what they want. They also are geniuses at marketing. Diablo II, SC 2, WC 4 and even WoW II are all already released (in essence) as many other games by other developers. But without the Blizzard polish or fanbase. I'm always on the fringe with the nerds that actually care about the storyline, and SC was one i was fond of. I remember being sad when WoW was announced as I would have preferred WoSC. =D The Aliens / Warhammer 40k / Dune mix has got to be better than yet another LOTR clone. DJ Nocker
I'll wait until they get all the patches released, then go buy the latest printing. You realize it took them around 8 years to stop patching the original right? It will take a loooong time to have everything totally balanced. They have already done 15 patches during the sc2 beta. lol...your going to be waiting a while :/

Troy Spiral (13)
Lol nice cartoon. I keep forgetting that there are people on the planet that weren't playing video games a decade before a lot of the "big" games we know about now were out. What, there are people that DONT know that SC is supposed to come with a fresh install of all operating systems? Quake , SC and Monkey Island were auto-installs at one time. Throw Mario, Zelda, Sonic, Metriod and Mortal Kombat in there and you don't ever have to leave the house again. I remember 20 years ago playing Herzog Zwei (Sp?) on the Sega Genesis and thinking how sweet it was that they FINALLY came out with a game where you could control a whole army of guys on a map the way i wanted to. (This was long before SC) When SCI came out i was all about it, but the basic game was already in place years before, blizzard just did a very good job in bringing all the details to one place with lots of polish. I played the HELLLLL out of SCI (and the game got better with the brood war expansion) I didn't really stop playing it until just a few years ago. I still know some people that actively play it. It wont be as popular here as it is in korea, but the community will be huge, we are hoping for a great competitive tournament scene,

But SC is an especially strange phenomenon, they are PSYCHO for SC in Korea. Its about as popular as oxygen or sex. I wonder why that is. (never really looked into it I just have seen news stories about it randomly here and there)

DJ Nocker
Alright, it's been a fortnight. Reports? I beat the story mode in 3 days, fantastic! I wont spoil anything for you, but lets just say that there are 1 or 2 cool surprises that Zeratul shows you. Also, as far as competitive multi-player, I made it into Diamond league (highest league possible) for 1v1 last week, and me and my team mate are in platinum (2nd highest league). I be happy. I play Terran unless my brain is fried, then I take a break and play zerg, I cant play protoss for crap, they are to micro-intensive. As far as balance problems...Terran have a few overpowered units, but its not terrible (battlecruisers have to much health, lol). AND I FREAKING HATE ZERGLINGS! they are so good in this game, you can win by using almost only lings... Protoss are the best race, but they are by far the hardest race to use. playing a top level protoss makes me sad.
n0Mad
Sweet. If you're not into PVP, does the campaign mode offer enough enjoyment for replay? Are there enough maps and options for player vs. computer (PVC? Mmm ... vinyl. lol) to keep one busy for a long time? Or is it all about the Battlenet and I've gotta learn to like it? Um, well im a very competitive player so I obviously went through it as fast as I could, I also only did story mode on normal because I just wanted to see what happened, a comp isnt a person, ya know? Id have to play through it again to give you a clear answer, but it was a great game single player wise. I look forward to seeing where the story is going to go for the next one "heart of the swarm". Also, the used map settings games on bnet are great! when I get worn out from ladder games, I will go play starcraft 2 "left for Dead" or "Turret D". I am very pleased with the game itself. its just that the new B.net needs ALOT of work...
n0Mad
Cool. I just got an external HD so I could clean up a bunch of stuff off my laptop to make room for SCII. I did some system scans yesterday and am defragging tonight so I can install and start playing by this weekend!

Reaper
Looks like a cool game. I have been waiting for Blizzard to release Diablo 3 as it has been in the works for years. Almost have Diablo 2 with the expansion pack beat on the 3rd and final level. Want to see if there is a different ending than the other difficulties.
