Glory13666
For those who don't know, Gleaners also has need for volunteers to help sort donated food. I took my girl scout troop a few years ago and the girls had a blast. They also run several gardens in the summer that you can volunteer at. Of course it's even more fun to do a good deed while dressed like a zombie!
sean
Of course it's even more fun to do a good deed while dressed like a zombie! That's the whole idea: helping out while having fun. Everyone wins So spread the word, and the fake blood, too! -City Club Zombie Ball 10/08/10-

sean
Tonight is the night! I'll be up there early tonight in full support (+zombie gear) of fighting hunger! If anyone needs help with transportation, etc, PM me and Ill see what I can do (or maybe find a friend close by to you who would be nice enough to pick you up. As a person who was living on the streets at age 16, I know firsthand what it is like to be starving, freezing, scared and alone. Really that's why this event is so important to me; even if one person brings in one donation, that's more help than Gleaners Community Food Bank had before. (maybe this sounds cheesy, but TONIGHT YOU REALLY CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!) Hope to see you all there; make sure to say hi =D xo Sean
TheOsakaKoneko
Interesting question... Will there be a number to get in tonight, as usual? Normally on a Friday we get in free with a special number. It appears that perhaps tonight we actually still have to pay $2 more than any other weekend even though we're donating food. This seems a bit strange to me - is that $2 going to Gleaners as well? If it is, I will pay it happily, even donate a bit extra on the side. However, if City is keeping that $2...I really don't get it. Anyone know about this?

However, if City is keeping that $2...I really don't get it. Anyone know about this? When I first began creating this event I tried very hard to negotiated a 'donation to Gleaners in exchange for free cover'. There are some decissions that were out of my hands despite my sincerest efforts to try to be as accomodating to the zombiewalkdetroit.com fan base and as supportive of Gleaners Community Food Bank as I could be. As far as I know there will not be a code issued for tonight, as tonight is deemed a 'special event'. The best explanation that I can offer is that when there are special events, such as the Detroit Electronic Music Festival Leland City Club Afterparty, I have personally paid $20 just to get in! While most weekends are typically the same at CityClub in terms of price, on occasion these 'special events' nights may fluctuate from their normal price structure. Thinking positively, really $2 + 2 non perishable canned food goods for donation ($4 without a donation) really isn't that inexpensive for a special event, especially one that is in support of a good cause. I hope this explanation clarifies things a bit, and I hope everyone still comes out and has a really good time! -sean
