I can tell you that I won't be there, but will any of you be?

Come. Join us. Meet us. Hang out. We're not that scary in person, really.

Leland City Club

400 Bagley Street

Downtown Detroit

You enter by going through an unmarked door on the First Street side of The Leland Hotel building just before the gated parking area on the side of the building nearest 1st Street. The club is at the top of the stairwell. (see picture in the link above in the DGN calendar entry)

All are welcome. Come meet some of us weirdos.

Saturday nights from 10:00 p.m. to 4:30 a.m.

Alcoholic drinks until 2:00 a.m., pop and juices served all night.

Admission is $4

18 and up, 21 to drink with proper ID (no exceptions).

No drugs, weapons, chains or spikes.

Zoomable map to City Club.

MDOT lane closures

(The map isn't quite exact. The Ramada is located within the Bagley, 1st, Cass, Plaza Dr. block.)

In case you don't know the "DGN Corner" is to the right of the bar. Currently theres a table, pillar and white couch there, impossible to miss. Come say hello. If no one is there, stay there, they will show up.

Ah, im the guy you always get irritated with because I ask what you are going to write on my hand, and if its inaproriate, ask for an "X".

You would be surprised how many people do that. I just don't understand why I'm the only person in the world who can go into any bathroom (even the one at city club) and wash the sharpie off my hand. I figure if I can get it off that quick why is it so hard to get off in ten hours?

It's no big deal to me if you want an X as long as I can mark your hand. :yes

I do get in trouble for not marking hands at all, but I can mark as many X's as I want.

For some reason, perm marker stays on my hand for days, regardless how much I wash it. Id rather it be an "X" than something stupid like "cock". Also dont understand why you guys dont just put "21" or a wrist band.

I completely agree with that!! Id like just 21 written... Itt takes me forever! To get the marker off... and having the work dbag on my hand going to a family is hard to conceal.

Some people's skin just soaks up the ink more than others. It usually takes me a couple of days to get it completely off, especially in the winter when my skin is very dry. I don't understand why it can't be kept clean for the sake of those who have to work or visit family the next day, especially knowing that it irritates so many people. Having the word "cunt" written on your hand doesn't go over well in the professional world.

I will ask Sibyl about it. I never pick the word, just write whatever Rocky or the bouncers pick. Maybe I will start drawing flowers on peoples hands....I'm not sure why it's usually offensive. Rocky told me that it was "tradition"... but as many people tell me, I'm not old enough to understand city club.

Bill also gets cranky when it is a long word or an illustration.

Wrist bands are most definitely not in the budget.

I should start a thread for word suggestions.

"21" is my suggestion.

well he is being logical, I know, its crazy... "hm, well we know if we write offensive stuff, we loose bar sales....and if we changed it, there would be no negative effect....naaaaah"

maybe I'm being really ignorant but I don't think that if we stop writing offensive words on peoples hands our drink sales will improve in any long-term way. I'm inclined to believe that the people who are excited to have inappropriate things written on them and get completely shit faced because they don't have work the next day are the ones who buy the most drinks.

If it were up to me I would draw hearts on everyone's hands. The rest of the city club staff thinks this is pretty lame tho and since I'm not too particular I try to keep them entertained.

They would probably go for hearts or something cutesy before they went for "21" tho.

im not saying your sales will be HUGE becuase of it, but they will obviously get better than worse.

I'll most likely be in attendance, have some shit to do first though so we shall see. I've always wondered about the word choice myself, though it comes off easy enough so its not a big deal for me.
