Detroit Voting To change Its Name

You read it right, but it isn't the residents of the Motor city Detroit that want to change its city name but rather, Detroit Oregon.

Detroit Name Change.

And here I thought Michigan had the only city in America named Detroit.

It was on the news last night and now the guy that started the whole thing is embarrassed. So much that he's offering any Detroiter's visiting that town a discount at his motel (or lodge, whatever it is). lol

I was just looking up the result of this subject and found this post from one of their residents.....

I would like to make it clear that the residents of Detroit Oregon DO NOT WANT TO CHANGE OUR NAME, nor do we have anything against Detroit MI. We are flattered to be named after the Detroit MI settlers. One guy put this suggestion on the ballot, that's all it takes is one person. He isn't even a native to Oregon. He came from California a few years ago. I have lived here my whole life, and everyone that I know (and that literally is everyone) is against the name change. Im sad that the news is making it out to be that we don't like Detroit MI. Like I said, we have always been proud to be named after them.

It would seem as though one person somehow made everyone there seem disgusted with the name Detroit.

Haven't been able to find the final results so if anyone else finds out please post here.
